Hair question guys, rocky is 16 weeks old, and his hair is getting matted a bit here and there, I brush it out but it happens again. I dont want to give him a cut because I want him to grow his hair so when he matures it will be nice and long. Is this possible with a baby coat, or does it have to go? His hair on his head is very slowly turning gray, but the rest is all black, chest is white. |
He's probably just blowing his puppy coat. Is it like little tufts? He'll be getting his big boy hair soon. Just keep up with it, comb him every day/night if you can. I usually work with them late at night when they're getting sleepy and only for a few min at a time. The hair on top of their heads turn lighter/gray then will be gold/tan. It's so funny, they look like they're going bald for a few weeks. Just remember, he's growing & his body and head are getting larger so his hair will look thin until the adult hair starts to come in. Enjoy this time together. |
yes please make sure you brush and comb your baby everyday, even when you or they don't want to!! I thought I was doing a good job just brushing him ..until we went back to the breeders for a visit after one of Nathans puppy shot visits at the vet ...and she clipped his nails for me and did his feet (he was not letting me do that back then..he was about 4 months then) and she started showing me all the matted hair underneath his coat that i had not gotten and it was hurting Nathan trying to comb them out...so......with my permission she shaved him and he was ratty looking for a few weeks but we do not have that problem anymore!!his adult coat is coming in and i make sure to brush him up and down to make sure he has no matting!!! Lol..it is definetly a learning process for both of us!!! Good luck !!! and he is a cutey!!!! |
