what do you think? maggie will not eat puppy food. she is the most stubborn, picky eater. she will eat adult dog food all day (steals it from our other dogs) but won't eat the puppy food. I have mixed the dog food with the puppy food thinking she would just eat it all together. NOPE she picks out the dog food and leaves the puppy food. what do you think I should do? can I feed her the adult food? and maybe give her some kind of vitamin or something? she is about to hit 7 months old. |
bumpity bump ;) |
I wouldn't worry about it to much, years ago when the manufactures started all they had was adult food for dogs. Puppy food didn't exsist. Plus what about people that feed their dogs the raw method. From what I have read puppy food has more fat for the extra energy they burn. Get some extra puppy treats & give them, for the fat content. My opinion only, or call your Vet to see what they might have to say. |
i could be wrong but i thin kthey main difference between puppy and adult food is the protien...puppy food has way higher protien. i think some people feed canidae all stages and just feed the puppies more than the adults....hopefully somone else will be more help...lol |
i talked to the company we get our food from and she said that all of their food is good for all stages of life but that the puppy food has more protein. she said that if she will not eat the puppy food, to go ahead and let her eat the adult food. I will call the vet and see if they feel she needs some additional source of protein but from what this lady was saying, I think she will be ok on just the adult food. |
I got Autumn when she was 5 months old and the vet told me to just give her the adult food that I am giving my other dog. He said it would have less fat the puppy food and the chunks would be bigger and better for her teeth (as far as having to chew them to help clean her teeth)!:animal-pa :animal-pa |
