I'm a New Yorkie Owner and Member!!! :) Just wanted to say hello to all of you on this wonderful site that I have been looking at for a while but have finally decided to post a hello!! I am a new mommy to a wonderful feisty 2 1/2 lb. 6 month old Yorkie named Nathan!! He is the love of my life and my buddy! To all the seasoned yorkie owners I do have a few questions!! :) lol Do you put bows in a male yorkies hair to hold it back?? :) lol How do you get them past the nipping stage?? MIne loves to play but he does the nip and run move!! :) lol But I love him!! I will post pixs of him as soon as I learn how so give me a day or so to learn to move around this site!! But I am glad to have found it and look forward to talking to all of you!!! |
Welcome and congrats on the new baby. I know how you feel 'cause Murfee is my best bud. My hubby won't let me put bows in his hair but occasionally we sneak one in for awhile:D |
Welcome and congrats on your baby, When I had my males I always kept bows in, I just used manly colors LOL. Now a days quite a few places sell real cute boy bows. Can't wait to see pictures. |
Hi and welcome !! I have girls but IF I had boys I'd be doing sports bows and boy colors - I think ALL yorkies look cute in bows.....and I've never heard of a Nathan before - that's a really cute name for a little guy |
" Welcome " :welcome4: fellow Yorkie parent. Don't worry, Nathan will outgrow that nipping stage. When mine was little like Nathan, my husband actually had little teeth marks on his hands. My Rudy has outgrown that and he's a little over a year old. You will love it here. :) |
1 Attachment(s) Welcometo YT. You will really enjoy it here. I keep my Rudy in bangs because I think it looks really cute on him. Here is a pic. As for the nipping, I always stuck a toy in his mouth so that he would not get the idea of chewing on people but they do go through this during teething and he will probably outgrow it. |
Welcome!! Glad you found us! Once you figure out how to get around you'll find tons of answers and tons of friends too! I say YES! to bows for boys! Its mostly the boyfriends and husbands that say no... LOL But I think boys look super cut in bows! As far as the nipping... its a puppy thing just don't encourage it by playing back and they should grow out of it... if you "play fight" back you can encourage biting and other bad behaviors.. so nip it in the bud. We have a whole roon just for traning and behavior! Check it out! Kathryn k |
:yorkietal Welcome! You will love it here. SOO much information especially for a new yorkie owner. It has helped me greatly. Mostly to realize that my little boy's behavior is completely normal and to re-affirm that I am doing a good job with him. My little man, Tobey is almost 5 months old. I think that I am not going to do bows because I think it will make him look like a girl. that's just my own issue though. to each his own.. I Do however want my next pup to be a girl so she can wear a pink sparkle collar and pretty bows in her hair. :) As for the nipping, replacing your hand with a toy works at first. mine is still struggling with it and at first saying no or uh ah! worked well but then he started ignoring me so we've been spraying him with water which has worked amazingly well. he learned to stop in a matter of days. Good luck!! |
welcome to YT! |
welcome to YT can't wait for pictures:D |
Welcome to YT! Glad you found us! Welcome to you and Nathan!:D |
Welcome to YT. I hope you learn as much as i have and still am! I love this site.....there are days where I don't get all my house work done, cause I'm stuck to the computer (on YT)LOL. But for the boys with bows....I saw yes. I put boys in my boys hair. I get blue or green ones or even camo ones....daddy can't so no about the camo cause he's a hunter so he thinks its cute. There are a few here on YT that have sites and they make great stuff for boys, some one them will make something just for you if you ask. Good luck and again...........WELCOME |
Welcome and congrats on your new puppy!!:) |
