I feel like a horrible mom Sam is going to the doctor in the morning to get fixed and he cant have any food or water after 6, well its 7 here now and he is MAD! He has gone all over to get some water and there is none to be found. He just barks and comes running to me growling and barking. I made him a good dinner. Boiled Chicken, Peas, and Carrots around 430 and made sure he drank some water by 6. He didnt go for a walk as we normally or play outside because I dont want him to work up a thirst. I dont even want him to play to much. His sad lil face just makes me want to cry. Im gonna be sad tomorrow when I leave him. I know he needs it done, I just hate it. Will he be ok for that long without water? Maybe an ice chip? Can he just lick some water from my fingers? :( :cry: |
um, i don't know why your vet said no water. he can have water up to bed time then take it away. none of the vets i've worked for have ever said to take water away that soon. |
Are you sure they said no water? I have never heard this before either, not the night before. I would double check with the vet just to be sure. I know they will hydrate (iv fluids) while they are sedated, but you should still double check. |
If Sam is mad because of no water, just wait until tomorrow.... no noogies... he will be really MAD!!! You are a wonderful Mom. Sam is really lucky to have you for a Mom. |

Poor little guy. When I've had pets done they always no water/food past midnight the day before. Never that early. My thoughts will be with you both. |

I believe our vet said they could have water until midnight too. But we gave them a tiny sip after that because they were so thirsty. The vet said that was ok. |

I know how you feel. I had to take Maya in wednesday for a chest xray and they said no food and water after midnight. She has Cushings and that makes her thirsty and hungry all the time. I felt so bad. In the morning I but her outside for a few minutes while I fed the other two. I felt like such a traitor. I asked the vet to give her water after the Xray. If only they could understand why we are doing it! |
I'd let him have a sip too.... I can't see how that would hurt ...my vet said midnight too What a good mom you are....he's been treated to a Kings dinner with nothing to wash it down with ...I'd be barking too :D :D Good luck tommorrow !! I would think he can have water up until midnight. I'd go ahead and give him a little, it's not going to hurt him. Poor little guy. Don't feel bad, you're just doing what's best for him. |
I gave him a teaspoon of water :eek: He is goin to be ok... I know he is. I dont thhink Im going to sleep tonite. |
Oh good luck Sammy Sam! He will be fine mom! And if you think tonight is hard on you, wait till tomorrow night! I was heartbroken looking at my baby all doped up and whiney :( The next day was so much easier on me! |
