My yorkie changed colors!
 
When i first got Bailey, she was very dark all over and as she's gotten older, her face has started turning brown which i thought was cute so i didn't mind. Well more recently i started noticing that her hair on her body was starting to grow in in a silvery gray color. So she went to the groomer on sunday to get her shorter summer cut, and she's all silver now because they cut the hair that was black off in the cut. Is it normal for a yorkie's coloring to change so dractically?? And will it go back to being dark?? She looks like a little old lady with all this gray hair!

Sounds like they cut off her "baby" hair and that her big girl coat is gonna be silver!! Some do stay black, but they usually do not show any silver. Take a peek at my Otis. All black and gold, no silver. I'm sure her coat will be beautiful.

These little ones seem to change quite frequently.
Buddy is 3 and he is still changing! He went from black to
silver, to blonde and now he has 1 1/4 " of a solid black root
down his back where the part is! Does this mean he's turning
black again? The longer his coat gets the bigger the root is.:confused:

Don't worry...it's normal. Sadie still looks like her color changes some to me.

It is normal that your baby's color changed.
She may not go back to black or dark.
I thought my Momiji will be light color but she is still dark.
She is brown/tan face with darker body.
I don't care what color she will be because I love her to death!!!! :D

I could be wrong but I think especially with the hair on their head, it will turn silver before it turns tan. Tobey is 5 months and when we first got him he was all black and tan. then the top of his head (which was black) started growing out silver, i tell him he looks like an old man! hehe! So now he has about and inch of silver hair with black tips, it looks funny. the rest of him is still black and tan. i kind of want to cut the black tips off, but then i don't want it to look too short. But then I think it will eventually change to the tan color that adult yorkies have on their whole head. He also has the cutest white tuft of hair on his chest, its a small area, but so soft and cute! i love to rub it!

This is exactly what happened to Bailey just that she was black and then had silver roots. When she was groomed most of the Black was cut off and she's all silver. I check her roots now just to see what color i'm in store for next!

Thanks i was just making sure that all this color changing was normal. I don't mind it so much, the silver actually makes her look younger to me believe it or not. I haven't been able to get her to sit still for a picture, but as soon as i do i will post before and after pics.

it sure does sound like that she is changing to the silver color !! Which i luv that color !! :p

This sounds a lot like my Gizmo and she was 3 years old in March. She gets a black stripe down her back at the roots for about an inch long and then it changes back to a dark silver stripe down the part on her back . When she was younger the top of her head was almost a white and now it is a light tan but her gold areas have seemed to deepen in color which I really like. I wish her head was white again I really liked it like that.

Ok as promised, some before and after photos. The first two are her coloring before and the second two are her afters. I love her either way its just so funny what a difference 6 weeks can make!

Thank you! It's funny i say that as if i had something to do with it. She's cute all on her own.
