How old? For those of you with female yorkies, how old where they when you had them spayed? |
I have read to wait until at least 6 months. I got Misha done at 4 months from the advice of my Vet. Had to have her go in later to have her canines out. If I would have waited they could have done it all at one time. |
Vixxen was just under 6 months and Truffles was 7 months. They both did great and had teeth pulled and micro chipped ;) |
Jewels was 6 months |
I think it depends a lot on the size of your little girl. During surgery, bigger is better, and thats why a lot of people wait until six or seven months. Ask your vet, he knows your girl's medical history, etc, and will give you the perfect time to spay your baby...as long as he's a responsible vet experienced with yorkies and little dogs. |
Emma was 6 months and about 2.9 lbs at the time. |
Thanks. I wa asking because I heard 5-7 from vet and the people who live next door to us said a 1 year. |
You should do it before the first heat however the longer you wait the better because the vet can extract all of the baby teeth that haven't fallen out on their own and have adult teeth coming in. We had Winnie spayed at 6 months...seems to be what everyone else is saying too. |
Daisy was spayed at 4 months, but she is a bigger yorkie. |
Both of my girls were 6 months old |
Roxy was 6 mos. and I am going to have Remi neutered at 6 mos. also. |
Autumn was 6 months old.:aimeeyork |
Trixie got spayed at 6 months as well. All her adult teeth had come in by that point and they pulled 2 baby teeth at the time of the surgery. |
