New to the forums Hey everyone, I'm new here. We just got a new Yorkie puppy about a week ago. Shes now 7 weeks old and her name is Saddie. I figured I'd visit the forums for any tips in successfully raising the puppy. So far the entire family loves the dog and she seems to enjoy herself here too as well. In typical puppy fashion, she loves to get into things shes not supposed to, but shes a pretty obedient puppy so far. In case anyone is curious, I have some pics of her: http://filebox.vt.edu/users/fecurtis.../Sadie%201.jpg http://filebox.vt.edu/users/fecurtis.../Sadie%202.jpg Any useful tips I should know or consider? This is the first Yorkie we've ever owned, it is also the first small dog we've ever had. |
Awwww! Your little girl is precious!!!! She has feisty little eyes like my Bunny! |
Awww...she's so cute. Huge, beautiful eyes. You are going to have so much fun with her! The most helpful thing around here if you don't have any specific questions is the FAQ thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6016 . It tries to answer any general questions you might have and give you some pointers. Any other questions, just ask! And welcome to YT (be careful, it's addictive ;) ) |
Hello and welcome!!! Your puppy is adorable! |
If Sadie is 7 weeks you will want to start shaving the top third of her ears now to get them to pop up. |
Yeah I was just about to make a post about how to get her ears to stick up. Thanks for the advice. |
i had to go back and look ..i didn't even notice her ears... she is so cute. |
:) Congratulations and welcome, Sadie is a doll baby, so very cute. :) |
Ooooohhhh! She is such a pretty baby! Love her eyes! Congrats! I am a newbie here, but I do have one pointer....Keep your toilet paper out of reach or you might, one day, just find yourself high and dry....well, not dry! lol |
Very adorable!!! Welcome to YT. This is a great forum, you will learn a lot and have fun. Your pup is still very young so I would also suggest taking care of her ears. Also, enjoy this smooth coat time (which I love) because in a few weeks she is going to change into an unimaginable puffy furball that you will be combing out all the time!!!!! |
2 Attachment(s) you can just use those little clippers and shave the top third and then fold the ear in half and take scissors and trim the excess hair off of the edges and they should come up just fine. You will want to keep the hair off of them too while she the muscles are developing. I just read this in Janet Jackson's (YTCA) Yorkie Book that if you don't get them up by 12 weeks you could have a had time ever getting them up. When I saw Bunny in her pics from the breeder at 7 weeks though her ears hadnt been shaved yet and now they are up like two little horns on top of her head! The first pic is 7 weeks and the second is 12 weeks. |
Saddie is sooo adorable!!! Welcome to YT!!!!!!!!!!! |
