do any of your yorkies have a "schnorkie cut"? It's when you cut the hair of your yorkie to look like a schnauzer. I'm thinking about it for Archie but wanted to find out if any of you guys have that style on your yorkie. If you do, can you post pictures? I want to see what it looks like.

The IDEA of the cut is very cute, but I've seen pictures where a yorkie can look great with it, and ones where a yorkie can look, for lack of a better word...geeky.

I just picked up my lil guy from the groomer and I asked for a puppy cut for the summer but I got was a shaved dog! I think the groomer was trying for the schnorkie and got carried away cause he has no hair above his eyes! He looks so pathetic! :eek: I'm still on the hunt for a good groomer who really knows yorkies. Just make sure you take a picture with you of a shnauzer cut that you want your yorkie to have. I've seen a picture on here before where someone got the schnauzer cut for their yorkie. It was really cute. I think I will have Chachis cut that way. Hopefully that person will see your post and put a picture up.

Yes, I would like to see it. I am still trying to figure out what's best, not that mine have enought hair to worry about it yet. HeeHee.

I think Lisa's Carter has a Schnauzer type cut (from what I rememer of her avatar)

I would love to see it!! I wonder if there's a site out there that shows all the different cuts. I never know what to ask for when I get them groomed.

Sorry to go off subject but you changed your signature, Kim - very cute. I have to minimize my screen so small at work so that no one knows what I'm looking at LOL. I move the screen all the way over - so I don't see the names on the left & have to rely on signatures to know who I'm talking to! When people change their signatures it completely throws me off! but I guess that's my problem LOL!!!

How funny!! Lily just got a new do and I didn't want to say anything about it because she looks like a schnauzer. I think she looks silly. I thought the groomer had goofed, show what I know.

This is Oscar the last time I had him groomed. This is more of a modified Westie cut tho...but I love it...and Oscar loves that I don't have to pick debris out of his coat anymore!

We kept our first Yorkie in a Schnorkie cut for years...although we made a few modifications to suit us so the name was changed to the 'Boogie' cut. It's a long story but one of his many nicknames was Boogie. Anyway, it was easy to maintain and I think he looked adorable. We didn't keep the long eyebrows or the long hair around his mouth...instead we left a short eyebrow, it started at the end of one eye and went across to the end of the other eye and it was just long enough to curl under and look cute. For the hair around his mouth we had them cut it to about 1/2 or 3/4 inch long around his muzzle, they called it a donut. His back, neck, face, tail and head were cut very short, his belly was trimmed. He was only 5 pounds and 6" tall at the shoulder full grown so his skirt couldn't be very long, we kept it at about 2 or 3" and his legs were fluffy. Yes, he had one heck of a set of ears but he was the best boy any Yorkie Mom could ask for! His name was Little Man Tate but we called him Booger...because he was one! I hope these pictures show...

Oscar, Booger and Lily look great. I love the cuts. I haven't take Gucci to the groomers yet, so I love to see cuts to decide which is best for Gucci. I want it short but hubby wants it long, what a dilemma. He shouldnt decide cause Im the one thats does all the groomming, lol. Men , huh. lol :rolleyes:

I started cutting Bronx and Zoe when I was disappointed in their grooming a couple of months ago. We have a pool and they swim and get so dirty rolling in the grass afterwards. I am cutting the body short and leave their heads, legs and tails. I like it for summer. I will grow them long in the winter.

I have looked and looked for groomer websites, different cuts and such, no luck here. I would be interested if anyone knows of one, too.

I got Sue Hentschel's Yorkie grooming video and it is AWESOME!!! I am too chicken to do it myself, but from watching her, I learned how it should be done and even if I never have the courage to "try this at home" I know what the tell the groomer at least. She goes through quite a few different cuts on there. I think there are some other that have gotten it as well. She is a doll! PM me if you would like her email addy!

Ok...so this cut looks like about what I do for Syd. Only I leave more hair on the cheeks and around the ears. But I thought I was doing a puppy cut. What does a puppy cut look like then?

I think Yorkie's would look adorable in any type of cut. All the pic's posted of your babies with special cuts are soooo sweet.

Schatzie is getting the puppy cut next Monday, :eek: Gosh, working so hard on getting her hair long too. But...The breeder will be watching her for almost 2 weeks during our vacation and Im afraid she wont care for her hair as I do and it will mat.

So, after her cut Im really hoping she looks as sweet as the pictures posted on this thread. :D
