While we are away......
 

Okay....there are times when we can't take our furbabies places w/ us or we go out of town and have to leave them.......so I thought it would be fun to see what everyone does w/ their furbabies.

1. Do you have a sitter come to your place or do you take your pet somewhere (daycare/broading) or leave them home and have someone check on them?

2. Do you only trust family and/or close friends or go to a boarding/daycare?

3. Do you leave a booklet of your personal instructions or just a brief note or nothing at all?

4. Do you pack a bag full of goodies or just take a few things?

5. What do you pack for your furbaby?

6. Do you call often to check on them or not call at all?

7. If you call, do you talk to your furbaby?

8. Do you think of our furbaby while you are away or enjoy the relaxation of being alone?

9. Do you bring back goodies/gifts for your furbaby? If so what are some things we have bought?

Family only here!!! Sorry friends (hee,hee) - that's just because I am so anal when it comes to Mojo

3. Do you leave a booklet of your personal instructions or just a brief note or nothing at all?Several page booklet, typed up, some highlighted, etc. I do this no matter how often he goes there!!!

4. Do you pack a bag full of goodies or just take a few things?
A bag full, plus stuff that won't fit in the bag...plus a few more extras.....just in case (hee,hee)

5. What do you pack for your furbaby?
Blanket, carseat, basket (to cuddle in), my pillow case (for my smell), tons of toys and snacks, his 1st aid kit, my instruction booklet w/ all numbers and information, leash/harness and clothing, grooming stuff, vitamins, etc. (everything is clearly labeled w/ how to use it, when to use it, etc)

6. Do you call often to check on them or not call at all?
I call often but not to the point I stress over it

7. If you call, do you talk to your furbaby?
I definitely talk to Mojo.....everytime I call

8. Do you think of our furbaby while you are away or enjoy the relaxation of being alone?I think of him each and every minute we are away, but not to the point I stress myself w/ worry...just wishing he could be there, etc.

9. Do you bring back goodies/gifts for your furbaby? If so what are some things we have bought?We always bring back something for him while we are away.....whether it is a treat, a new toy, shirt, etc...something!!

If at all possible, Mojo is normally the first one we see...he normally will see the truck coming and meets us at the door. I go for him first thing before I even say "hi" to anyone else....gotta get my Mojo love!

We trust family and friends, however we love taking them with us.

We don't leave them.

They have a doggie-duffle that we pack up for them. We take lots of things.

Food in the cooler, bottled water, wee-wee pads, changes of clothes, chew bones, shampoo and conditioner, tooth paste and brush, couple of harnesses and leashes, paper towels, first aid kit, eye and ear wash, emery board, treats, poo bags, food bowls, night shirts and blankets.

When we go on vacation for a week or longer they are kenneled at our groomers. If its just for a couple of days My Brotherinlaw watches them

We do both

We pack alot of stuff

Canned and dryfood, their bowls, treats, ther leashes and harnessses, each a bed

We call every other day

When we vacaton we usually go to disney and ther s a doggie store. We have brought back shirts, collars and bandanas

I usually talk to the groomer first

When I'm going to be out for hours (more than 6), I leave him at Doggie Day Care. Lately I send him with food. They insist on this because of the food recall. I've never left him overnight. I take him with me.

Family..... if it is a necessity.

A note with instructions.... it probably wouldn't be considered brief.

They have a backpack that matches Shelby's carrier (Seymour uses a Sherpa..... hubby doesn't want to carry him in a "froo froo" carrier!) :D

5. What do you pack for your furbaby?
Sweater or t-shirt, bottled water, small dishes, ziplock bag of food, blanket, squeaky toy, chew toy, and stuffed animals ( 1 for each dog), bows, leashes, harnesses, medical records, recent pictures, towels, petwipes, tooth bruches and gel, "scented" finishing spray.... oh my, I pack more for them than i do myself! :eek:

Of course .... who doesn't?

No, but I do when hubby is watching them.:rolleyes:

8. Do you think of our furbaby while you are away or enjoy the relaxation of being alone?Sometimes.... but I make sure they are in good hands.... so I try not to worry.

9. Do you bring back goodies/gifts for your furbaby? If so what are some things we have bought? I always go to the pet stores.... or will pick up the homemade treats in the mall for them. I have purchased treats in an airport before!! ;)

So far i have only left Layla with my mom and dad while i have been gone overnight.. and it's only been once :p however i think we are planning (i hope anyways) a trip to NYC and will have to leave Layla with her babysitter Lea who she sees about 3-5 times a month.

2. Do you only trust family and/or close friends or go to a boarding/daycare? well so far it has only been my parents but i would COMPLETELY trust her babysitter when the time comes

3. Do you leave a booklet of your personal instructions or just a brief note or nothing at all? Layla is a creature of habit so i would probably make a list of what her morning and bedtime routine are.. otherwise she has been with Lea for up to 8 hours during the day and things went really well!

4. Do you pack a bag full of goodies or just take a few things? Her Babysitter has 2 labs and a grand-lab and if Layla had any toys there they would be dead in minutes. Lea also makes her own treats so Layla would NOT need me to pack her own :p she is so spoiled there!

5. What do you pack for your furbaby? Layla sleeps in a crate at night with a disk so that would be going with her and a sweater or coat if it is cold. Lea feeds a high quality food that Layla loves and doens't bother her tummy so she eats that

6. Do you call often to check on them or not call at all?oh i'd be a fool.. calling at least twice a day!

7. If you call, do you talk to your furbaby?yes... i do that even when i don't see her during the day

8. Do you think of our furbaby while you are away or enjoy the relaxation of being alone? i think of Layla no matter what i am doing if i am not with her.. lol.. i miss her so much!

9. Do you bring back goodies/gifts for your furbaby? If so what are some things we have bought? well like i said.. haven't gone yet.. however she would definitly get a cool new toy or sweater!

Lea's house is very busy with all those dogs.. and our house is quiet.. so i think she is ready to come home at the end of the day!
