Info on shipping puppy to Canada? I have a breeder in Canada who wants one of my puppies. I have only shipped puppies 3 times, same litter, within a few days of each other and using Northwest Airlines. Here's the deal with Northwest Airlines: It will cost me $275 to ship Turk to Calgary, there is only one flight a day. He goes from here to Minniapolis. There is a layover between flights of an hour and a half -- and that is the problem. The lady on the phone says it takes 2 hours to transfer Turk to the other plane. That means Turk will have to stay there a day for the next flight. Does anyone know of a more direct flight? Sorry if I put this in the wrong place but I didn't see any other forum that seemed to fit. Thanks Sylvia |

Thank you for the link. I will check it out. I think 10 hours is preferable to more than 24. I hope we get more answers. Sylvia |
We called Continental and it costs more and it still has a day long layover. Sigh We thot about driving him to Tulsa to ship to Houston but there would still be a day long layover. It would cost more to drive him to Houston than we would save. Anyone with any other suggestions? Please? Sylvia |
Could the new owners fly out and pick him up?? It seems like it would be better than shipping him alone and for such a long length of time. Sorry I really don't have any suggestions. |

Another option is that you don't have to sell to someone just because they want one of your puppies. i would politely decline UNLESS they want to fly and get him. some of my buyers fly to me . i have told a person that i didn't feel safe with my baby flying from here to Los Angeles. She could fly to get her or I would bring him. We worked it out and she sent me a roundtrip ticket so i fklew her puppy to her with me in the cabin. I'm sure you have other buyers that are closer. I would not ship my baby to Canada alone period. |
I agree, way too long of a flight for a wee one. Anything can happen with a layover.... Best, option is to have the prespective new owner is to have them fly to pick the pup up. |
Thank you for that suggestion. I will ask and see if he is willing to come get the puppy or if he might be willing to pay for a round trip ticket for my husband. LOL I don't fly. Sylvia |
Well, I would... Contact all airlines that fly out of your convenient airport and ask them directly about their flights into Canada that carry live animals. I use Delta Pet First but I think they only fly into Toronto. Good Luck, Teri:animal-pa |
