Newby to Yorkie Talk Hi everyone, I have a seven month old yorkie male named Bandit. I have never had a yorkie before, so I hope to learn a few things from everyone here. He seems to be having some submissive urination difficulties. It has been going on since I got him at three months old. Hope someone can point me in the right direction on dealing with this issue. Please. |

Hi. Welcome. I'm pretty new too but I saw your post and it reminded me of a dog whisperer episode. There was a little bichon I think who the owner had dyed pink as she had everything pink anyways the puppy would urinate when a certain person came over and you might want to look up that episode but the dog whisperer basically said when that person came over he should just ignore her until she calmed down. Instead he was petting and praising her and raising her excitement level. So maybe just ignoring him when he is in that anxious state would help? Have you tried anything on your own like that so far? |
agree :D no touch, no talking, no eye contact till he is calm....very hard to do.... roxanne in nc |

Welcome to YT. It's the highest honor a dog can give a human, however we are not happy about this honor and would rather train that unwanted instinct out of them. To do that, is to ignore just like the others have said. There is a lot of free information on the net about this and how to correct it. |

Yes my Tinkler, that's for sure. Thanks for the suggestions, but he is a behavior submissive tinkler. It started when we got him, it seems to have begun when we started scolding him during housetraining. He was nearly 4 months when we got him, and the lady I bought him from, had been letting him do his business on the floor wherever in her kitchen. Sooooo, I think he had a hard time accepting he couldn't go on mine. He only does this when you scold him,(and I don't mean swatting him). I mean if I use my "no no," tone. From chewing on things to doing is duty on my floor. He simply doesn't like to be in trouble. Thats why I don't know what to do? I can't ignore him when I'm trying to teach him, what's ok and whats not. Once even had had put him in his crate to go out, and I have expected he would go in his crate, because I was gone awhile. When I got him out I said," Oh Bandit"( in a tone of ,I was really wishing you hadn't, but figured you would.) I had him cradle along my arm, while I was bending down to look inside the crate, and soon as I used the disappointing name tone he pee'd on my arm. How do I make a well-behaved dog. If he pee's everytime you scold him?????????:confused: |

Tinkle problem Hi. My puppy used to be the same way. He would pee in corners and where I can't see him, so try as I might I couldn't get him potty-trained because he didn't want to go in front of me. What I did was: I did newspaper training, where I put a few newspapers in every room. But with his reluctance to peeing in front of me, he didn't use them. I started congratulating him when he peed. Anywhere. And I started using the word pee-pee when he was doing it. Now he no longer hides it, he actually does it in full sight and this in one week:) . And usually on a newspaper. He is only 3 months old, so I am taking it slow. Once he was comfortable to pee in front of me I took him outside and told him to pee-pee. He doesn't do it on command yet, but he does do it in the 15 minutes we are outside. I leave the security gate on the door (he can fit through) and now he goes outside on his own. He still has accidents, but things are going much better than about a week before.:) |
Hi and welcome - he's just adorable and I can't help you on the accidents but hopefully it's a puppy thing and he'll outgrow it....If you need answers you came to the right place though :) |
