romeo and his kongs! grrrrrrr....... is my baby the only baby in yorkie land that DOES NOT have any use for these things!!! i bought him the pacifier first and he would play around with it and chew it a couple of times then walk away. so today i bought him the little baby kong that you can stuff with the paste - he licked all the paste he could get and left it sitting in the middle of the floor again! i was really hoping he would like them because even though i am a stay-at-home mom i have other things to do outside of the home and i can't take him with me always so i thought he could keep busy with that until he tired out. well needless to say - i will not buy another one! |
Bengi is not a fan of his kong either. He will lick the yogurt up to certain, but when it gets too hard for him to get it, he leaves it in the floor, he will not fight for it. He won't even try if I put some solid treats. Lazy little doggy, he knows sooner or later he'll get something else from me. |
Mine also don't care for them - they don't seem to like the feel of the rubber on their teeth. Now, if it was made of wood they'd be in 7th heaven - LOL!!! |
Annie wants nothing to do with the kongs either. I thought the pink pacifier was really cute. She didn't like it at all. She loves her stuffed animals. I guess they are easier on her little teeth :D |
and i thought he was the only one!:D he likes to chew everything else - shoes, paper, toy cars - but the kong is not even on his list it looks like! |
Lily doesn't care for hers when it has any sort of paste in it. I tried thier paste and peanut butter, which she LOVES but just licks and leaves! Try the Ziggy (sp?) treats. It encourages them to chew more. Lily becomes obsessed with her kong once it has a ziggy inside! |
Chloe doesn't like it either. She basically turned her nose up at it. I've tried stuffing it with EVERY yummy food imaginable and she won't even go near it. Crazy dog...even where there was chicken in it she wouldn't touch it??? lol Mommy's little priss pot wouldn't want to get her face dirty digging in a stupid toy for treats  |
Miko loooves his kong toys! But I don't put any paste or treats inside of them at all. He loves the way they bounce when I throw them when we're playing fetch :) He also runs around the house with it in his mouth. Emma loves the kong toys too, she likes to chew on them though ;) We also got the new Kong Wubba which is awesome...Both of my furbabies love it and they play tug of war with each other...It's neat, maybe your babies would like the wubba :) |
Try putting something he LOVES inside the kong... peanut butter maybe.. a biscuit! he'll work at it if he LOVES it! Mine do not like peanut butter (go figure) but they love cheese.. so I mush a 1/2 slice of american cheese in it... they won't leave it until ALL that cheese is gone!!! Good Luck :) |

not that is what he LOVES!!!! this one had a sample of the ziggy and oh my goodness  i thought he was going to hurt himself going at that thing! he was chewing a mile a minute and he did not stop until it was all gone!!! he would not even look up at me when i called him!:p i am going to try it in his kong today and see what he does but i know i have to get more of those! they will keep him busy for a few minutes! do they sell the sticks at petsmart???? |
I'm not sure about Petsmart, but they most likely do. We don't have one around here, but Petco has them! They are usually right with the kongs and their brand treats. |
You're not the only one!! Pepper feels no need to even pretend he's interested in Kong. I bought him one - a baby size, he just sniffed it, I thought maybe he was too young for it? I got another one for him when he was around 6 months old and tried putting the Kong paste, peanut butter, doggie buscuits, even freezing it with yougurt - he just doesn't like it. He actually doesn't peanut butter at all. He steers clear of any toy that is made of rubber or plastic - but LOOOVES balloons. Weirdo  |
2 Attachment(s) Otis doesn't really have use for ANY toys. He'll chew on those hide twists, but usually only after his dog brother has started them for him and it's nice and soft on the end. When he gets on one of those you can forget him for awhile. He'll even leave the room and go get on the bed so he's not interrupted by anyone. He throws a fit if it gets to small and I try to get it away from him. But toys, nope. My shih-poo is the opposite he ALWAYS has a toy in his mouth, Always, it's like the toys are his security blanket. It's strange, but it;s really cute. He is not partial to any one toy, but I buy a lot of the 94 cent orange bones at Wal-mart!!! |

i am going to start buying those $.90 some odd cent toys for romeo, too!! ;) LOL i buy and i buy - just like the rest of us! - the best and cutest little toys and he looks at them like they are stupid!! the toys that are his favorite are the $1 items i happen to see and will pick up. i've learned my lesson! i will not splurge on those anymore and save my time and money for what really matters - his food and health! |
