I belong to other forums and I dont see any "other forum" talk going on at other the forums. I personally believe its a variety of people who can be controversial and not nesicarily someone from "another forum" or "certain new members" |

how about we just end it now !!!!!!!!!! |
Did everyone forget that there is ONE PERSON who donates his time and money to all of us so we can have a nice forum on which to converse with others like ourselves? If everyone continues to be off topic on EVERY THREAD posts will be deleted and threads will be LOCKED. Now, I don't know about you, but I think it sucks when that happens. I think it also sucks that the rules are not respected. Its like your'e just laughing in the site's Admin's face. http://yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1996 http://yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5459 |

Well, one thing I think would avoid controversy is to send someone a PM. Rather than calling someone out on the forum, you could just PM them as long as its not in a harrassing manner. I think often people are misunderstood and it just has to do with their writing style. I think the whole thing about the contest could have been avoided if instead of posting publicly about phoebesmom joining just to vote, the member that was worried about the rules of the contest shouldve just pm'd her or pm'd admin about it. |
WOw, new members are sent pm's of warning!?! I'm not sure what to think about that! That's pretty low down and dirty! |
I wasnt going to say anything but it has been mentioned a few time, I would just like to say that the only thing I can think of when you are refering to "advertising" is me (of course there are definitely others that have sites and post plenty about them as well), and actually it's not that I feel offended because I post pictures and answer other posts with the information that I have learned from having yorkies/maltese for over 2 years, and learning things from other forums, but I would like to state for the record that I am a member for 3 other forums and my sole purpose is because of my 3 little pups. I didnt come here to "advertise" as I have known about this site long before my online store opened. I would also like to say that I have spoken to Dan (Mr. Admin) over email as I also donate to the yorkietalk events such as 500,000 posts etc. and he in no way has felt offended by the fact that I happen to also have an online dog boutique and that it is posted about. AND if he did feel it was inappropriate I know he would email me as he has done in the past when we have discussed donations, etc. I in fact thought I was doing a favor by offering discounts etc. as well as donating, but it may be that I am offending some people, and I do truly apologize. I do understand that it can be "annoying" to see things posted about online stores over and over, but I think the main reason I do that is because it is exciting to find products that are good for our yorkies and with me having 3 I am always "discovering" new things etc. With that said, I hope everything can go on normal and our yorkies can come back into conversation :) |
Thats a good idea. I bet if we all did that we would avoid hurt feelings and alot of the back and forth. Often times it is a miscommunication so it would be easier to clear the air in PM rather then out in a public forum. Thanks for the reminder ;) (edited to reply to Brooke's post) Brooke, I think its great what you've been doing. I always love when you post new items, and the discounts are great too. You're such a good person to know, and a great mommy to your 3 babies. I think the comments posted about advertising etc. were the opnion of just a few and not the majority. ;) |

I am new to this site and I have noticed alot of negative comments. I think a couple things to remember when you are a member of a forum. One, it is very easy to shoot off negative comments to people via email....they don't know you and you are not standing face to face with people its much easier to say things typing them then saying them to someone. two, you have to really read something....things can get misinterpreted pretty easily. Third, if your post is not contributing to the group...why post it? Just somethings I tell myself and try to follow. Chris |
Brooke- I don't think anyone was talking about you! You have ben a member of the forums long before you had your store!!! And I don't think its any different if you post about something you are excited about that you found for our yorkies than if anyone else does! I personally havent seen much advertisement and have never felt like anything was being pushed in my face by any members that have items for sale. If I did feel that way, I probably just wouldnt read that thread! |
When I post here - I post here for the sole reason of liking this site ....We all have different writing styles and ways of wording things and since this is a yorkie site and not "Oprah" like someone pointed out (which I thought was funny) .....why not keep talking about yorkies instead of all this trival stuff ? |
Admin put a post out that stated all advertising needs to be done in the for sale section. I don't know if that includes just mentioning a product or your store in a post. Someone probably needs to get clarification on that. |
Before I discovered Yorkie forums of various names, I posted on 2 others. One is for commercial breeders (I still check in there so I can see what ARG's are doing). The other site is like a bad soap opera. I go in every month or so and read...now that is a site that is definitely NOT for the faint of heart!!!!! Expletives!!!! You won't believe. Frankly, I like a site where we can agree to disagree but not one that everyone has the same opinion. Frankly, Yorkie Talk fills that particular space. I know I am harsh sometimes and I do not hesitate to apologize for hurting feelings and never will attack a person. My love and concerns on this forum is YORKIES!!! You know, I bet we all feel the same way. We just say it differently.. |
