Still concerned... 4 Attachment(s) I posted about this recently, but my mind is still not at ease. Maybe it's because we didn't get Penny until 5 months old (and she was twice the size Riley is now at 6 months). But I'm still concerned about Riley's leg hair situation. I know some people said she was probably just a slow grower. But is it normal for her to go from fluffy little puppy legs to thin hair legs? Is this just part of her getting her adult coat? Sorry to bug again, but I guess I just need a better explanation. :o :( Even my sister asked this weekend when she was going to get hair on her front legs. And I think it's weird that she has very short hair and then wisps of long hair. 2 pics of her when we got her, followed by recent pics of her legs now. In the second one, you can see where there is just a lot of short hair with a few long wisps. |
2 Attachment(s) Neither of my boyz were really fluffy as puppies but they do have silk coats and Jo's grows very slow. I'll post a picture of each of them and you can see that they don't really have much hair on their front legs either. Maybe it's just their lines? If you're really concerned maybe you should see what your vet has to say. The first picture is Jo at about 6 months and the second one is Riley at about 4 months...I didn't think Riley would ever get any hair but he now has a very pretty, long silk coat. Jo has a pretty, silk coat too but it does grow slow. |
Piper was like that when we got her, but she was pretty sick also. I cut the whispy hairs to match the short hairs & got her on a vitamin supplement. It helped, her hair is longer & healthier now. |

What supplement do you give Piper? |
Six months is not very old. she still has a lot of changing to do. Chachi doesn 't have a lot of hair either and he is over a year. I guess it really doesn't pay to fret about it, what will be will be. He's mine regardless of how much hair he gets or if he goes completely bald. |
2 Attachment(s) Here you go missPenny...as requested...they change soooo much before they turn 2 years old...it's amazing! First is Jo and second is Riley. |

My male has enough hair to make another dog with. My female on the other hand has a very silky coat and not alot of hair. She is a year and half and finally has decent (not great but growing) leg hair but the hair on her face is still short and doesn't seem to be growing. I have been giving her Missing Link. I don't know if this has helped or she has just finally gotton some hair. |

My Coco was like that when she was young and I was worried. But after talking to a show breeder and her vet, I started giving Grizzly Salmon Oil to her. I would pump some of the oil on her kibble and she loved it! Meanwhile within a month or two of using it she had AMAZING hair growth and now she grows her hair like a weed...lol..I highly recommend it..You can buy it online or at petsmart/petco. Grizzly Salmon Oil. |
