sensitive stomach I would really like to hear from anyone who has a Yorkie with a sensitive stomach. My vet says that it is very common in Yorkies. I have her on a bland diet now but she still has flare-ups. She has been tested for liver shunt and that is negative. She is 5 years old and vey healthy otherwise. Anyone with a comparable situation and how they handle it would be appreciated. |
sorry to hear about your little baby...i haven't experience this problem...so hopefully someone on YT can offer a solution/suggestion...good luck! |
Yup, I have a sensitive stomach babies. My male is especially, but my female is too. It took me FOREVER to find a food that wouldn't give them the runs... Insane, I have to be careful what I give them now... unless I want to clean up messes from both ends... |
I get Science Diet I/D from our vet when Wes and Maddie need bland food and it works great. I also sometimes make chicken and rice for them. But I don't always have the time or ingredients for that so I make sure to keep the I/D on hand in the cupboard. |

Hope your baby gets better. Sorry to about his stomach...poor lil thing. |
My Pom has a sensitive stomach so I keep her on the same food. I tried switching her to a higher quality food but they all upset her tummy. Sometimes she gets a tummy upset for no reason. I have used pepto bismol to help. |
sensitive stomach Thanks for the info. Is that Science Diet I?D a Kibble or canned diet. I now give her Chicken and rice with a little kibbl - RoyalCanin 30, but she is gettng too many upsets. |
My dog Dexter has a very sensitive stomach. We only are able to feed him Science Diet adult small bites (dry kibble). If we change his diet to anything new, he will throw up. I did let him try Science Diet soft puppy food (chicken) and he didn't get sick from that. Basically, find what works and don't change it. If you do want to try something new, start very, very slowly and in just small amounts. You'll know when you find what works. Hope things get better for your puppy! :) |
Teddy has a sensitive stomach too. He does fine on Nutro Lamb and Rice dog food, but if you give him any human meat (except a little plain chicken), he will get the poops. It seems like he has a tummy ache too. One thing I noticed is that if you give him something early in the day (just a small bite or two of plain chicken) and he has time to poop outside before he goes to sleep for the night he seems to be fine. If you give him anything in the evening, he will almost always get up in the night while we're sleeping and have the runs by the back door. The vet said give him Pepto and it works great for him. |
diet for sensitive stomachs I have a diet and plan that was made up for my Ralphie. I am using Wellness Simple Solutions Venison and Rice. It is one protein one carb-- fewer the ingredients the better. The I also give a little canned venison as well. The probiotics, dygestive enzymes and some other things. No more diareah problems. |
Yes, I can only use the Science Diet Small Bites (we just switched to adult from puppy last month, and it was a smooth transition). The wet makes them have the runs, so we stick with the Science Diet Adult Small Bites, they love it. Only kibble for us! |
