What is a bicha yorkie?
 
Hi , I was just wondering if anyone knows what a bicha yorkie is? There is an ad on petfinder that says "bicha yorkie" and I don't know what that is. Maybe a biewer yorkie or a mix maybe? If someone could help shed some light on this, I would appreciate it. :p

It sounds like a yorkie-bichon mix...another designer dog. Sometimes they call them yorkichons. Very cute!...but still a mutt.

I have a yorkie bichon...a guess shes a "mutt" but gawd I hate that name...to me she is a princess!! Heck Id rather her be called a "designer" than a mutt lol...

haha, this actually makes me wonder what a parti yorkie is? I heard that one as well, never could find out what it was?

bichon yorkie~definately pronounced it wrong, lol:)

I agree with you, we had this uproar once before and some can call them mutts if they want, but I think they are alot of mixed dogs out there and they are alot that belong to people that love them just as much as a pure breed dog....:)

Lol..I don't think that anyone is suggesting that pure bred dogs are more loved than non-pure bred dogs. The best dog I EVER had--Rocky Noodle--was a mutt.:)

I know, that wasn't what I was implying, I was talking about the word mutt, I was agreeing I don't like it either and if people want to use it fine for them, but I think its should be mixed sounds nicer....:)

I am not worried what people call our mixes lol...I guess a mutt is a mutt is a mutt lol...

Gocha. I suppose I can see where the term may offend some people. I mean, who really wants to think that they just paid lots of money for a "mutt?" I personally don't like the term "designer dog." To me it's a way of trying to make something sound more appealing to buyers. So I guess I see where you are coming from.

I don't like the term "designer dog" either...I guess where I am from a mutt means different from where your at thats why I like mixed better:)

What does mutt mean where you are from? Where I'm from, it is used for any dog that isn't a pure bred. Where I am from, "mixed" is a racial term. :eek: Maybe we should call on non-pure bred dogs "designer mixed mutts" that way everyone can be equally offended.:p

I wasn't implying anything negative by that...:) Maybe "Ye Dog Whence is not of Pure Blood" ...or muggles...lol...inside joke, not very funny, but couldn't resist.
I refer to my dogs as "mutts" all the time as an affectionate term.

I just read the rest of the replies...I bet YTers can come up with a NICE term for cute little mixes....I don't agree with doing it for profit but they're out there .... Designer Dog IMO sounds too much like the catch phrase that it is....but IF I had one I guess I'd like that better than 'mutt'

Just out of curiousity - is this what it means in your area? I got this in an email this morning, and I thought of this thread right away. :D

"Mutt is short for the word ?muttonhead,? which was slang for dimwit. Somehow the word was applied to dogs in the 20th century, and then to dogs of mixed breeds."
