Excitement When Someone Comes Over...HELP!!! Hi....I do have to admit she is a good girl, but when someone comes to the house she gets so excited and is all over the place. Sometimes, not always she will piddle a little bit and that makes me upset. She is 100% house trained except this excitement thing. Does anyone know how to correct this???? Do any of your dogs do this?????.... Thanks & Blessings |
I have never found a way to correct the piddling out of excitement problem. My grandmother's yorkie is 8 and she still does this despite being 100% potty trained. As your little girl gets older, she will be less excited when peple come over and she'll piddle less. But now she's just a puppy. Just let her be an excited little puppy. Don't get mad at her for getting excited. |
Before yorkies, I always had cockers and they are famous for excited peeing...its frustrating I know, but I never found a way to stop it from happening...I look forward to hearing if anyone else found a solution.. Dawn |
It is so very hard not to get frustrated and angry......what about the rugs??? Advice anyone?????? I wonder if she is put in her crate when someone comes, or she is made to sit on her bed????? think that might help?????.......... Thanks |
Dior just started this a month ago. she is almost 8 months. The only thing i have tried is not get overly excited with her. When i am calm, she calms down. I also tell my guests don't get all excited either. She barely pees when i do that. If i want to go crazy when i come home, I stay calm until i open the back door get crazy with her and she piddles outside.:D |
hi, my karleigh has been doing this since day 1, even if i leave her in her crate it does not help, she will cower close to the floor and it does follow her.so i know how you feel, i just follow behind her with a bottle of resolve carpet cleaner for pets so i can get it cleaned right away,i even asked my vet and he said some just never out grow it :( |
Could you put a little diaper on her for now? That way you can focus on getting her calmed down and used to company without stressing about the piddling. Then once she gets the hang of waiting on her bed or wherever, you can start leaving the diaper off? |

I think it is a good suggestion as well to not ever get excited. Stay calm and she will stay calm. A diaper when someone is coming over is also a good suggestion. |
I think if they get excited you should let them...they shouldn't supress their feelings. Carpet shampoo work, is not like she is doing a river in the house...My vet told me that if you tell them off for getting excited and for the piddles then they will become very timid dogs. And I agree with my vet...I mind as well but I never show them that I am peed off when they do it... |
