A weird bump on the side ?? Pepper has a weird hard bump on the right side of hs waist. It's hard, doesn't hurt him when I touch it or massage it and size of a nickel or so - you could see it easily when he's wet. I gave him a bath last Sunday and am pretty sure it wasn't there yet. I comb him every day or every other day so I know it's pretty new. It kinds popped out of nowhere  . It might be where he got his Bordatella booster a couple weeks ago but would it pop out just now?? I'm a little worried but he's acting normally. I'll make an appointment if it doesn't get smaller - could he have bumped into something? It feels like when you bang your head and get a hard bump... But I think I'd know if he hit his side running or jumping... |
Is it more towards the belly? Like a hernia? |

No... he doesn't really scratch himself. I'll def see a vet... Oh boy, I was sure we were done with the vet visits till summer at least... |
I think its from the vacination |
ya princess has a big lump too where the vets gave her a shot... they told me it should go away in a few weeks.. it went away like after 2-3 weeks... hopefully thats what your little one has! |
It's prob. from the vaccination. When Teddy was a puppy and got his shots he had like 2 bumps weeks after and I was scared and even posted a thread about it. It went away afterwards. I heard if you don't massage the area right after the injection is given then that is when the bumps form. I would ask the vet just to be safe but it is probably that. |
It's probably nothing, but I'd still have it checked out if it changes in any way. Archie had a small bump on his side. It looked like a wart at first. Noticed it one day while I was brushing him. The next day it seemed to have grown quite a bit and was very rough. The vet thought it was a common benign growth called a histocytoma, but it didn't look like they usually do. The worse possibility was it could be a mast cell tumor - a cancer. Only a biopsy could acturately determine which. After some discussion of the options, I elected to have him just remove the whole thing so the entire growth could be biopsied. Turned out to be just a histocytoma and he had no problem since. Histocytomas are very common and usually just go away on their own. Problems can develop if the dog scratchs around it -- not because it itches, but due to location -- which can cause bleeding or infection. |
