I am desperate. Please help me...What do I do now? My baby is mated quite bad in a couple of places and I am afraid that I may have to cut it out, and I REALLY dont want to do that!! What do you suggest I should do?He HATES being brushed and will not sit stillfor anything in the world! His coat is not even long enough to get matted properly!!! Please, pretty please help me |
I think there are a few groomers on here that may be more help. I've tried different detangle products and some do ok. I've also used a little bit of babyoil and rubbed that into the mat and then carefully brushed it out. I really try not to pull as it doesn't feel too good. I know matts are a bummer especially in these little guys and gals. good luck with your sweetie. |
Cowboy Magic is the bomb! There are a couple people on here that sell it on their websites, too. Not sure if you can get it in the UK but if you can't, look for a silicone based hair product. Do you have Frizz Eaze there? I've used that as well and it worked pretty good but the Cowboy Magic was wonderful. I had to cut a couple mats out - especially around her little arm pitters but you can't really tell by looking. Good luck :) |

PS: The cost was 15 pound with p&p. Was that ok? |
Probably could have found it cheaper but it will last you for a long time! It will be worth it... :) |
Thanks I appreciate it. |
No problem :) Your baby is a cutie! Hopefully it won't take forever to get to you. |
It depends on where the matts are but I would try wetting the area and applying full strength human conditioner (a good thick one like pantene) and brush with a good slicker type brush (with the conditioner still on the coat). Keep the brush surface flat, don't tip it or you can scratch the dogs skin. (Practice on your forearm, you will see what I mean by tipping it) Don't use too much pressure just lots of quick strokes. Watch the skin so you don't cause an abrasion with the brush. You may even be able to just pick the matts apart with your fingers while the conditioner is there to make the hair slippery. Also if the hair is long enough you can just cut some length away and the matts will be easier to brush out. If you are dealing with tender areas like armpits or sanitary areas you would be better off shaving those areas because you will most likely scratch the dog with the brush. |

I just wanted to say a big thank you to SBecket668 for recommending''Cowboy Magic'' to me. I got it in the post on friday and have tried it today...It's true, it does work miracles. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart. |
:cheer: Yayyyy!!! :cheer: You're welcome - just another tip picked up here at YT! |
Good! I'm so glad you found a miracle! You seemed really upset in your first post, and I was hoping you wouldn't have to cut out his mats. |
