Does anyone else's baby do this?
 

Hey all.. I was just wondering if after a bath, do ur babys run around the house like crazy and roll all over things? Piper does it and my bigger dogs did it to, they run and rub their heads under pillows and blankets. My fiance said it was bcause the shampoo could be hurting her but, i would assume if it hurt her she would yelp or something, right? Oh ya..also can any one reccommend a good shampoo that gets rid of fleas and ticks? I give her a bath and then not evn a minute later she is scratching away..she is biting so much on her legs that some of the hair is falling out i think.. please help! thanx!! :) :aimeeyork

maggie runs around like a bat out of "you know where" but she doesn't do the scratching thing. Maybe you should look into a diff. shampoo?? i dont know. make sure you are rinsing really really good.

i think them running crazy through the house is totally "normal" (if you can call it that LOL) but if they seem like their skin is bothering them, look into it further...

Max does that. I only towel dry him - no blower. I think it's how he dries himself off and gets his coat comfortable again. He has fun.

I would call the vet about the scratching though. I use Oatmeal shampoo because he used ro have dry skin.

use oatmeal shampoo for itching and then look into the foods your feeding
her.. and by the way, they all run around like crazy after a bath.. they
dont like being wet and they think they are drying themselves

If flea shampoo isn't working which most don't, try getting him on revolution or another flea prevenitive. To many flea bite can cause disease & illness. Max goes crazy after his bath running all over the place. He has to be blown dry after or he just shakes from being cold. I use oatmeal shampoo also.

both my yorkie and my beagle do it...

my beagle scratches alot after baths... she has sensitive skin... so i have to use a special shampoo.

make sure that ur rinsing them rally well too... sometimes they get itchy if theres left over shampoo

Mine do the running around and rubbing especially on the sofas, pillows and rugs but not the scratching or biting. They did some scratching when I used regular oatmeal shampoo but they don't at all with the Cranberry Fields shampoo and rinse.

I would check with my vet before using any flea and tick product even shampoo. I say that only because my vet has definite ideas about insecticide products and small dogs. He told me not to ever use flea shampoos or dips on mine. He says the only safe products are the Frontline and Advantage ones.

yep mine do it espically when tey get fronline-d they hate it! my male use to do it everytime i put a bow on him but now hes use to it they are so silly

Yes, Milo does the running and rubbing thing too.

He even did it at my friend's house when we first got there this week. The rubbing.

Maizee definitely does that. I think it's her way of saying "she's free!" I agree with the drying off explanation. I also heard that they think they are "too clean" so they try to get dirty or they are wiping their scent on things. I don't know for sure though. Silly Yorkies :)

My two Yorkies girls go like their butts are on fire, rolling, sliding their faces along the carpet with butts in the air...........you name it! They feel wonderful just after a bath. :D

Yes all of mine do that. Then the other yorkies all have to start barking at them and chasing at them. It is a mad house on bath days and if you happen to be the one sitting on the couch you better duck for cover.They arent crazy about getting a bath but love it afterwards.

Mine become absolutely crazy after their baths. They run around the house chasing eachother and rubbing their bodies on our bed and on the couch.

Mint is considered a natural repellant and insecticide. But who is studying it? Well not enough since it works! Just google mint insecticide and you will find many sources of information etc. BUT is a "good" Veterinary Medical School studying Mint oil and a substitute to man made pesticides for its safety , efficacy, etc. I HIGHLY Doubt it. Why? Because it probably works, is readily available, easy to grow but not a good Money Maker. GO Figure. If money could make them rich with mint or they could Patent it then you would see it in vet clinics across the country. Why do I think this so strongly? We had two dogs and a baby in our house and yellow jackets infested the outside wall of our deck. So we almost never went out there! A professional pest control company came 2 to 3 times to spray "safe" effective long and short term deterrents. It did reduce the colony etc. but a week later it built up and grew again! Then I googled and found natural altenatives and one was mint! I went the grocery store saw on the Bottom Shelf a Mint Spray for Bugs and it worked the First time I applied it almost perfectly! Only a few came out as far as I could tell and they DID not ever Come Back even better and then I could seal the access area even. So how about Mint for your Yorkies and my small minitiature Malti-Poo. If anyone has tried Mint oil and similar solutins please stand up and let us know!

I'm trying cedar oil products! There is quite a bit of research done on it and looks like the perfect alternative to chemical flea and pest control!:thumbup:

as for the fleas i boil lemons and then drain the rind out of it let it cool over night then i use it as a flea dip Gatsby is very susceptible to chemicals and the lemon water works great

Yes, yes, yes! Zoe runs around like a nut after her bath. I don't blow dry her. I just towel dry her and then place a clean dry towel on the floor in the den and she gets on it and wiggles back and forth on it till she's almost dry. Then I comb her. I think it's cute. Plus she can use the exercise cause she's roly-poly. I am using the oatmeal shampoo (baby powder scent) on her till I can find a good conditioning one, but it seems to be drying since she's a cotton coat. I use the fleas prevention pills from the vet. Maybe you can try that.

Bella runs around like a maniac after her bath, the first time we bathed her, we started laughing at how 'scrawny' she was, drowned rats looked bigger. We couldn't believe how much the fur hid the littleness. The poor puppy hid under the couch for a LONG time and would not come out. But now she is used to our giggles, and runs around for at least an hour. She does a scratching on the carpet and bounces backwards, fairly odd behavior, but it works for her. LOL

The first time I bathed Harley alone, I thought I got water in his ears or nose or something, cause he was running around snorting and rubbing and rolling on everything, I'm super careful and get nothing in his ears or nose, and he still does it. Silly puppies.

yep both of my little dogs run around like mad after a bath, they dont scratch but they will rub thier faces and bodies along the carpet like they are tryiing to rub thier new clean scent off them..:).. Lexee dislikes the blow dryer very much so not long after she is done rubbing her self down she runs from me. Tucker abosutly loves the blow dryer and cant wait for me to dry him, he will push himself in front of the dryer when Im trying to dry lexee its the funniest thing and when I dry my hair he comes a running and jumps up on me untill I "dry" him with it, then he takes off running agian like it made his whole day... lol.. he such a character..:P
