Does anyone else have a thief in the house? Just wondering if anyone else has problems with their babies taking things that do not belong to them? If we leave anything laying around...Buddy will take it!!! I have caught him with my cell phone, my mouse, my Bluetooth earpiece, keys, pens, pencils, etc.... you name it, he will grab it and run. :animal37 He will also drink anyones drink if we leave it sitting out. lol Do they outgrow this? I am hoping it will get better as he gets older...replacing items he has chewed up and/or broken it getting expensive. Buddy is 5 months old. Oh....he has tons of his own toys...everytime I am at the grocery store or Target (any place that sells doggie items) ...I always come home with toys for him. Looking forward to hearing from my YT friends!!!:yorkiesar |
We are in the same boat...my chick is 11 months though. |
We have a "laundry" thief! Phoebi will hear the dryer buzzer go off and run to watch me fold the clean clothes. Everytime she takes off with a sock, towel or a pair of underwear that usually doesn't show up again until we have company! |
Yorkies are so special !!! Our Annie is 2 years old and "steals" just as you described. We have to trade a dog cookie for whatever she's stolen to get it back in good condition. We love her no matter what. We had a Scotty for 13 years, a Westie for 15 years, both of them were smart and spirited, but nothing as full of energy and mischief as this girl ! She keeps us laughing at her antics. |
I don't think they get better about this as they get older, I think we just get better at putting things where they can't get to them. I USED to leave stuff on my nightstand all the time, (chapstick, scrunchies, small book light, gum..ya know stuff) but now my night stand is clean as a whistle at all times, just the alarm clock :D I just look at it as the added-value in a yorkie...they make me be much neater!:p |
Mytheif has a small tent, actually he is pictured in it here, everytime something disappears, like my slipper, or anything else left out I look in his den (tent) first, and it is there 90% of the time, not chewed up or ruined just hidden away. He is a pro. Kinda fun...;) |
I guess the only thing that my Bijou really steals is my youngest daughter's Croc shoes. I find them everyone, except for in the shoe closet where they belong. Bijou will steal food right out of your hand though. |

Betty will also take things that she shouldn't...and when I say "uh-uh, no"...she RUNS with her ears flapping behind her!! She knows she found a treasure! Haha! |
princess is turning 2 next month and she still hasnt outgrown it... its gotten better but she still loves to jump onto tables and grab whatever she can so that she can get ME to chase HER  |
Dog Property Laws 1. If I like it, it's MINE. 2. If it's in my mouth, it's MINE. 3. If I can take it from you, it's MINE. 4. If I had it a little while ago, it's MINE. 5. If it's MINE, it must never appear to be yours in any way. 6. If I'm chewing something up, all the pieces are MINE. 7. If it just looks like mine, it's MINE. 8. If I saw it first, it's MINE. 9. If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes MINE. 10. If it's broken, it's yours. Saw this on a Tshirt at THIS site. :D |
:D So funny and so true.:D |
that sounds funny to watch...i have never had that problem.. |
Winston is an angel, he never touches anything that is not his. Now Maggie, from day one she'll run off with just about anything. Her favorite is socks, underwear, Mommy's slippers, etc. LOL |
I also have a laundry thief....whenever I'm folding clothes Lily tries to haul off whatever she can...what a clown... |
My 2 dont nick anything but i have just been looking after my friends lab for 3weeks while she was away and he is such a thief!!!! Every morning we would get up to find allsorts in his bed....shoes,socks,sweet wrappers,footballs...you name it he has pinched it in the last 3 weeks lol. He's gone home again now bless him, im missing his funny antics. |
We've been really lucky that Tatum doesn't bother things left laying around EXCEPT any underwear (clean OR dirty) left laying on the floor. But usually only my youngest daughter's clean panties that are laying by the tub while she's in it. Doesn't mess with the pajamas laying there though. And when she does it, she actually seeks someone out and makes sure they see her so she can growl and give it a good shake. Then she drops it and runs for a toy. Just her way of saying hey, come play! |
I LOVE THIS!!!!! I want a sign like that hanging in my home. I had something like that about Christmas. Don't pee on the tree and stuff like that. Made everyone laugh who stopped by for Christmas. :) Quote:

Yep, my guy is a thief too. |
Well, it sounds like most of us are living with little thiefs!! We can't get mad at them ...they're just too darn cute! I loved the "its mine"....very cute!!! |
Mostly only my Trixie Bear is a thief :D She believes everything is her's and I do mean everything!!! |
Sorry to say, Bubba is now 2 and still steals anything and everything. He is also a "cookie trader". But he has also taught his sister the art of theft. Only thing is if he steals something and she has nothing she tells on him by yapping! |
Britney used to be an underwear thief when she was a puppy, but she doesn't really do that anymore. Brooklyn is pretty bad about it. I just try to avoid leaving stuff out. |
Madison likes to steal clothes too, and she doesn't steal food from you, but we had been looking for our remote control to the t.v. for 2 weeks, we thought the kids had lost it, well we found it in her carrier hid under her blanket, her rule is " if it is on the floor, it is fair game:D " |

Oscar is a "lil" thief too. Funny thing is, he'll take take my hubby's snicker which is twice his size and weigh a ton, and starts running off with it.:doghop: :animal37 Now he mainly "protect" my clean laundry from his brother Cooper (sheltie)...who would parade around the house with whatever he can grab...and Oscar will try to get it back...if I'm around he'll drop it in front of me, if I turn the other way...he'll run off and hide it. can't get mad at the little bugger though...he is just so cute...:animal36 |
SAHDREAM - where did you get that pup - tent? It is so cute, my boys would love to have one! |
Pixie wil take my shoes from the back door one at a time and move them to the hall and get the other shoe and then move them one at a time to my bedroom. WHen I take my socks off she takes them and puts them by my shoes!!! I think she is telling me to stay home. |
My Zsa-Zsa loves daddies socks. Why anypuppy would put them in their mouth is beyond me! He comes home every day and takes off shoes and socks at back door. If Zsa-Zsa is out of her xpen she is in there ready to nab a sock. Eva waits for her to return with the sock and they both sit on it, daring anyone to try and take it from them. Crazy pups |
artful dodger with draft dodger !! Besides being a laundry "thief" Annie likes to take the draft blocker (a 3 ft long beanbag "moose" that I have at my front door and bring it to me. Its at least half her weight, but she insists, with much grunting and snorting to hop up on the foot stool and bring it when we are watching tv. Guess that's what makes her strong....all that hauling things around !! Like you say...who could resist such a cute, precious Yorkie. |
