Hello. I am the mommy of Britain. We used to spend a lot of time on this site a few months ago but life seems to get in the way sometimes. Britain is now 6 months old and is my joy, but she has a biting problem. Not an aggressive problem, it is when we play together she likes to chew on my fingers. I have tried everything I can think of short of biting her back to get her to stop. I dont want her to think that this behavior is ok. I am signing her up for puppy class soon. Will they address this problem there or do any of you have any sugestions that may help me to get her to chew on toys and not people?

I have the same problem with my little mojo, but he can get aggressive. My vet suggested puppy classes he said they will help you teach them not to bite. I am at my whitts end with the bitting thing. when he bites to hard i lightly tap his nose and give him a firm no. but i have no clue if thats working cause then he just goes to biting my arm insead of my fingers. I hopw someone can help more but i wanted to help bump this up. :thumbup: :thumbup:

Thank you . I have tried firmly saying NO too. But she just growls and wags her tail and goes for my hand again......I hope the puppy class is helpful.

Try the bitter apple spray also. :thumbup:

I have that.....should I spray it in myself? She doesnt chew up anything like furniture or carpet

Yeah! When she's going to attempt to bite you, quickly spray it on your hand. It worked for my Maltese when she was a puppy.

Ive never heard of that. Where can i get it the bitting is unbearable. I have marks up and down my arms cause he bites so hard that it hurts even worse to try to pull away. What can i the it and about how much is it?

You can but bitter apple spray at Petsmart or Petco

I dont remember the price but i got mine at Petsmart.

oh my gosh thank you i dont even care how much it is as long as it gets him to quit bitting. Does it work really well or what im curious what do you do with it?

It works very well! I wanted to see how it tasted, so i licked a little...and nearly passed out. LOL. But back to your questions, when you see he's about to bite, spray it on your arms and let him bite you. The bitter taste will discourage him from biting you. Also when he gets a taste of the bitter apple, say "No" in a stern voice.

Britain used to chew up the carpet in corners of my house....I started spraying that suff where she was chewing and after a few days she stopped
but I never thought of using it on my skin

It sounds amazing! Thank you so much. I had started a thread a while back about his biting problem but I didnt get any replies. Thanks again. Im definately going out and getting some on my next shopping trip! :thumbs up
