Chews off ALL collars/harnesses/leashes!!! I know I haven't posted in a while but Nico has been keeping me busy! Aside from being IMPOSSIBLE to potty train, HE CHEWS OFF ANY AND EVERY COLLAR, LEASH, AND OR HARNESS I PUT ON HIM! I have bought everything from thin nylon to thick nylon. I have bought soft leather to thick leather and that little bugger CHEWS IT OFF! The thing is he does NOT chew on furniture or anything he's not supposed to! No shoes, no carpet...just harnesses, leashes, and collars. I have tried bitter apple to no avail. I seriously think he just gets pissed and chews them because he knows it will PISS ME OFF! Any advice is welcome. I am so frustrated! I have paid a fortune on these things! |
take the collars and harnessess off him after you walk him.. i never keep them on..... never... only to go for a walk...i think its dangeous anyway |

Yep, I take mine off too. 'Bacca is SUCH a chewer! Have you tried stick underarm deodorant?? (on the leashes, etc. not you! :) ) |
I'm not saying he can't chew threw them, but Lupine has a guarantee that they will not break. The will replace them for free even if your dog chews through them. This might at least save you some money. Also you can teach your dog not to run through the door, but I'm not for sure how. Before we go out I would just push Logan back & tell him to stay back & now he does unless i tell him he's going. I think teaching him to not rush the door is the first step. |

You're not alone. I can never ever leave Maggie alone with a collar on. She's gone through 2 collars, 5 beds, numerous bows/barrettes, and counting. I feel your pain. |
Hahaha! I thought I was the only one. Skittles chewed off every harness and collar I've bought. I smarted up and started taking it off. It's a hassle, especially during the potty training stage where he's going out every half hour.....but I was out of options, so now.....I just take them off! |

Try a vest harness that way he can't chew it off and it will be more comfortable for him to wear. the regular nylon harnesses are stiff and dogs don't like them they need something to move with them and something not so restictive. There are a lot of members here who sell them. also a step in harness might work to. Chattiesmom she makes silk ones that don't matt the hair you might want to try that to. good luck |
Wouldn't it be easier (and less expensive since you have said you have been through) to teach your kids to watch the door when opening/closing it? |
hey girly long time no see. i have some belly bands you can have if you want them to help with the house training thing. i don't need them anymore. also try vinegar on the harness or collar. puppywraps.com makes the harness vests i have one i got from her its really pretty! shes a yt member also! how big is nikko now? id that his name? hope all is well over in enterprise feel free to msg or email me |

Chewing.... You didnt mention when the chewing is going on. If he is wearing his leash all the time & he chews it you can try using a very thin chain leash, most dogs when they put the chain in their mouths, they dont chew it & they correct themselves because they dont like how it feels in their mouths. Try that & good luck!! :animal36 |
