Mulch eating/chewing So it seems that little miss Ceiba really enjoys mulch (think it's Bark Mulch - like THIS pic). Everytime we take her out to pee/poop, she heads straight for the mulch. I'm wondering if she's teething or something  (4 months old) - I keep taking it away from her, but she always manages to get another piece! Can anyone provide any insight on whether it's truly harmful for her to chew on the mulch? Thanks! |

Xena does it too - she sneaks it into the house to chew on later, I keep finding in the corners. |
My 2 also!! We have a mulched in area for my sons playground and also for our flower beds and while he is playing I am trying to stop them from munching on my mulch! |
I don't want to alarm you, but I can swear that I read (lots of places) that Mulch is extremely dangerous and deadly. PLEASE DO NOT LET THEM EAT MUCLH :thumbdown |
Here is some info to read about Mulch: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ighlight=mulch |

Sissy and Angel are the same way. I do try to keep them away from it though because our mulch does retain water and the fact that Sissy has had giardia twice leads me to believe the mulch might be the culprit!! |
Yes, I read about the cocoa mulch - it's definitely not that stuff! I just didn't know if the bark mulch was dangerous, too. I did a few Google searches and all I could come up with was that cocoa mulch stuff - nothing on bark mulch. I keep snatching it away from her (and yes, I find bits of pieces of it indoors, too!) but I was curious if there was any harm in it. (On second thought, I guess she could potentially choke on it...I think I just answered my own question!) |
Wow...the link from TLC also mentions pine...and Betty LOVES to eat pine cones! She tries to run away from me when she has one. Anyone else heard anything about pine being dangerous? |

The link that was referenced in the other thread that said that pine mulch was bad (THIS one) comes back as non existant. I did more Google searches on Pine bark mulch and pine cones and pets, etc. but nothing comes up saying it's bad for pets. (I do see a million links about the cocoa mulch) |

If anything, it might cause an irritation in the GI track. TJ has IBD - trust me, it's not fun at all! |
My guy does it too...sticks/branches also. |
