what kibble is more yummy???? i am currently feeding bella merricks puppy plate. at first she liked it but now she isnt crazy about it at all. i was thinking of getting california natural or canidae. has anyone with a picky eater had luck with either of these??? Thanks in advance...:D |
I am in the same Yorkie Boat as you - my little Mango is suddenly a finnicky eater. I have read on YT that Canidae All Life Stages is highly palatable. I have tried a sample of the original formula; Mango will pick at it sometimes. I know that there are at least 2 other flavors; I think I will try and get samples of them tomorrow from the local supplier, and will let you know if I have success. I do know that it is highly recommended, is safe and healthy and has a lot of the "right" ingredients, as opposed to "fillers", etc. |
I just wanted to add something: if I mix her kibble with a very small amount of nonfat Cottage Cheese, Mango is more likely to eat it without too much coaxing. However, the ideal is obviously to get them onto a healthy dry kibble on its own. My vet says this is especially important for their dental health. I shoulld also mention that I do find the Cottage Cheese to be slightly constipating for her. |
thats funny that you added that because i add cottage cheese too, sometimes its the only way for me to make sure she eats a good amount each day. thats the reason i am looking into other options. let me know when you try the other canidae i will keep my fingers crossed...hehe:) |
i am curious about this too. maggie is on royal canin and eats it but she isn't very excited about it. she was at first!!! but now it is just "there" and she eats it if she is hungry. i would love to find something with no fillers or bi-products in it that she would get excited about. |
I'd be careful changing foods a lot. In a finicky dog, it can encourage even more pickyness. Silly babies. :) I would keep feeding as long as she'll eat it and maybe provide her excitement with yummy treats, like little pieces of chicken or beef that you're eating. Just make sure you don't feed her too much or she won't eat her dinner. I mean, if I turned my nose up at a salad and someone gave me McDonalds, I'd keep trying my luck too! If she won't eat it at all, that's a different story. Then you should try the old tricks of warm water on the food, or adding in a little rice, or maybe a tiny bit of chicken stock. Just remember, sometimes the more add-ons you use, the more ridiculous the whole process can get! |
Lilo was the biggest picky eater you will ever see!!! untill 3 mo. ago I started her on Natures Variety Raw meet medalions. It takes her 30 sec to finish one, and you'll need only 2 or three a day for a yorkie. I also give her some cut up raw beef for lunch (1 NV medallion in the morning, 1 oz beef for lunch, and 1 medalion at night). So far I have great success with it, and she doesn't seem bored with it. It's like she gets excited to eat!!! I also made my friend to buy it for her yorkie, and she is super happy with it. You can go to below link for more info, and also you can get Buy one get one free coupon. http://www.naturesvariety.com/tryit/...E84FvQO26C5855 fallow this link , and on right side you'll see green bookmark. do you do the natures variety dry kibble diet??? |
just kidding i just read your post again. i would rather have her on dry kibble have you heard anythign about that?? |
I have tried soooooooooo many different kinds of kibble. Then wet food. Then wet food with 'hammered up to dust' kibble. Then human cooked food - also with 'hammered up to dust' kibble. Now they eat Nature's Variety Raw Frozen - which they LOVE!!! I feed 1 medalion each for breakfast. They also get 1/2 sardine each and also approx. 3 or 4 fresh steamed greeen beans. For dinner they get another medalion and 2-3 fresh steamed green beans. I leave approx. 10 pieces of Canidae Kibble down for them each. I crack up watching them actually eating 'whole' pieces of kibble. I haven't seem them do that in about a year! They like the Canidae. They play with and then crunch, crunch, crunch! :p P.S. I think I am changing their food once again! I ordered and should receive my package in a day or two: www.thehonestkitchen.com ...it's human grade food - grown and manufactured in the USA at a Human Food Facility regulated by the USDA and the FDA!!! |
Dior just started eating her kibbles (Royal Canin) without much fuss. At first she would miss meals and flip over her bowl and growl at her food. But then we got a lil baby boy (maltese), who absolutely loves to eat. All of a sudden she started eating. Maybe u need to do a little puppy shopping.lol |
