I'm new here, For me finding this site is like winning the lottery. It is a great site, with plenty of helpful info. I have never had a Yorkie before, and just got one a few months ago. He was 12 weeks old when I bought him home. I fell in LOVE. He is now 4 months old, has all his shots, and the vet gave him a clean bill of health last week. We are attending the Petsmart puppy classes and they are a big help. Since I have lurked here, since day one with him. He is now crate trained, and it is very seldom he has a accident inside. I don't work, and have all day to work with him. So I put him on a scheldule and watch for signs. (potty). After reading on here about using the bells (he sits at the kitchen door when he has to go out)..I ordered the bells I read about on here........after a little over a week, he rang the bells for the first time to go out yesterday My son and his wife fell in love with Gordon , so they purchased one of his sisters(Kasey).....since they both work, I am helping out with her potty training and some of the commands. Since I read on here that it isn't good to use collars on Yorkies , I have made Kasey several halter dresses and Gordon the cloth halters. I love to sew and they were so easy. Thanks for all the info on this site.......I have never read a site that is so helpful and friendly. I came out of lurking mode......to say thanks, I have gotten plenty of info to make sure I am taking the best of care of Gordon , that I can. |
I'm new to this website too :) I also find it to be very helpful :aimeeyork We have our Lilly Girl that we just adore! We have had her for 5 years now, and she is a member of our family :animal-pa I am a Kindergarten Teacher (school is 5 blks from home), Hubby is going to retire in 8-10 yrs., and we have been seriously thinking of "Raising Yorkies", as there is only 1 serious breeder that we know of in our area. We would like to start out with 1 Mama, to make sure "WE" are right for this opportunity. Then if we are, we can slowly expand. We have soooo many questions, but don't know WHO is Reputible to ask. Please give us Advice. We would want a Registered Mama, and we would want to do this the Correct Way. Thank You! |
Wanted to welcome you both to YT. If I have a question about my Yorkie (heck any of my zoo really) this seems to be the place to come. Glad you joined us. |
Welcome! :wavey: :welcome4: :yorkietal :wavey: |
I'm a new YT'er too. I've been reading as much as my eyes will allow me - there's so much great, useful advice on here. I've owned Yorkies most my life but its so nice knowing that there are others out there with stories and advice to help or guide thru the adventure of Yorkie ownership. Welcome! :) |

Welcome Sherryabear, Scammomite, and Simplyyorkies! |
Thank You! For being so warm and inviting :p And YES I am filled with questions. I hope you can lead me to the right forums to get answers to my questions. Here's a little about us: We have a Yorkie, who is like a baby to us, Lilly, we have had her for 5 years. We would like to try our hand at Breeding Yorkies. We would like to start out small.... we are thinking with one registered Mama Dog :animal-pa I am a Kindergarten Teacher (5 blocks from school) and my husband will be retiring in 8-10 years. We think this would be so rewarding, but do not want to "Dive Into It Big Time" as we may not be "cut out for the job", so think it would be best to start out small until we know for sure. Can you give me some advice and tips, such as: *What kind of Mama Yorkie? *We would want her to be registered, and be big enough to carry her puppies easily. *We have been told for "Tea-Cup Yorkies", you breed them to a small male, is that correct? *Where do we purchase her at? *Should we buy one that has already had a litter vs. one that hasn't had puppies before? *Where we live there aren't too many Yorkies, and Our Lilly is such a Novelty everyone LOVES her sooo. That we think there would be a High Demand for this breed of dog. *What is the "Protocol" for "Stud Services and Fees"? Thank You!!! |
