Chloe's last ever visit to a groomer... Arrrgh... When I say, "Don't trim anything on the face or head--only the hair between her toes and around her lil' butt," what does that mean? Does it mean to, once again, trim a short ridge above her eyes, trim inside her eyes and a little on her nose? I don't get it. Is there a magic code for DO NOT TRIM ANYTHING ON HER FACE? Jeesh! I swear she will NEVER have a proper topknot if these places cannot get it to leave her face alone. So I guess I'm going to have to buy a pair of clippers and learn how to do the toes and butt trimming myself. If I ever want her to have a proper topknot, that is what I have to do. Anyone know what is a decent, affordable set of clippers, and how do I do the trimming because she's never getting another person to touch her again! |
The groomer that i went to used to do the same thing.....I would say, "just clean up the butt area, and around the pee pee area, and he would come home with his feet trimmed and eyes....which now I have to keep up because it is a pain in the butt to let that eye area grow out again....I just do everything myself now except to cut the nails....Im very afraid to cut the nails myself. |
I hope you didn't pay for it and let them know they screwed up. |
Please please please IF you figure out the magic groomer speak for "Don't touch the hair on my little dogs face!" I will PAY YOU for the secret! |

I didn't even get to see her before they made me pay...like you can't get your dog back until you pay the bill...I didn't like that either. So at least it was only $2, but I'd pay more to have her hair back... |
I am soo sorry this happened to you, but if misery wants company then here I am! :D I told my groomer that I do NOT want Peanut's face hair clipped, want to grow it out. When I picked her up the groomer said "I trimmed around her eyes...if you don't like it we will do something different next time." ARGGHH!!! Do they somehow lose all control once they start clipping? I just don't get it. |

grooming I used to ask for exact info on a 3x5 card...and I kept it for each Yorkie... I would tell anyone who goes to the groomer to take a card with detailed instructions...leave the card and if they do not follow instructions, DON'T PAY...that was my policy..! |

so.. I guess you just have to be straight-forward with them to get what you want sorry for the long post:rolleyes: |
I started doing my own grooming after I took my Maltese, Jack (RIP), to get groomed the same day our neighbor took her Maltese, Princess, to the same groomer. Our hubbies went to pick up our little sweethearts. Jack came home with bows:mad: and was long and luxurious  (he went in for a puppy cut) & Princess came home with a puppy cut  and a scarf???? We didn't figure it out until we met for our evening walk. The same groomer did both of them and didn't realize that she had them mixed up:confused: OK, boy/girl.... |
Do you just use a regular trimmer...like the ones for people? I have one that I used to trim dh's hair with. If I use that to trim her toes, do I use a guide, or just the clipper without the guide? |
My 3 all will lay on their backs and let me do their nails and trim around their pads and toes. I have a pair of curved blunt tip scissors that i use for feet. I also use a small wahl trimmer around their bellies and feet. I use at least the shortest comb on the clippers and on the trimmers so that they don't get razor burn. I have 2 of the hair clippers, one for the york's and one for hubby/son/grandson's haircuts. |
I have been trimming ears butts and wee-wee's since i got Peeka i use a beard trimmer from Walmart it works great! It really only takes a few minutes to do your self and you won't have to worry about them giving a bad hair cut. Sorry you had to go through this. I don't think groomers know what a Yorkie is suppsed to look like outside of a puppy cut seriously! |
