Frantic digging within enclosures? Riley has a crazy habit of going into Penny's travel kennel or the soft-walled kitty condo that holds all of their toys and then she frantically digs and scratches at the sides. It's crazy! She really gets worked up over it sometimes. I think she's probably just playing and burning off energy, but I've never seen a dog do this. Sometimes it lasts for just a minute or so, and then she'll move on. This afternoon, she's probably been in the kitty condo for about 10 minutes. She'll peek out at me or Penny, jump out to play, and then head right back in. The crazy girl will occasionally even sniff at a wall and scratch on it for a second. Silly girl! Anyone else's Yorkie or other pet exhibit this behaviour? |
OH YEAH! Both of mine do it! Especially on blankets and pillows. I have to be careful and make sure I have a blanket on the couch because they'll both do it. Digging like they're gonna go right through to the other side. They both dig in the toy box like that. It's so funny watching them! |

Can you say Terrier Trait? Mine loves to dig on my leather chair when hiding her bone. My other one loves to dig in her kennel and hide under her bedding. I don't mind as long as they aren't diggin up my yard. :) |
I'm used to Max's digging, but when I took him to the chiropractor's office and he started digging up her chair, I was so embarrassed! He's not allowed to dig at home anymore either so that when he goes visiting, he doesn't dig to China through someone else's furniture. Judy |
Hmmm...Tia only "digs" our leather couches. Luckily her nails don't leave a single mark...but don't want to encourage this behaviour. She also digs in her doggie bed when she's drying herself off after a bath. |
that is such a terrier trait...back i the day...yorkies for used in england to get small animals out of their homes so they would have to dig to get them and scared them out of their hiding place. ;) |
