  Not allready. Rudy, my Yorkie will be hard enough to check for ticks but Lucky, my Shih Tzu is all black, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one. Do you live near a wooded area? I know they can blow in the breeze, so to speak. :D We use Revolution on both of them. |

Yeah, I found ticks on my girl that is at my parents last month. I thought that was sooo soon, but they said they are going to be super bad this year. Just one so far on the weekends on my too with me... Crazy! I hate ticks, but the parents live on a farm, so what can you do?? The ones we've had are HUGE! |
We went to the Vet on Friday for a tick bite. Jaxon had one -very little- on the inside of his upper leg. When I pulled it off there was a perfect red ring around it....I took him to the vet-he is now on antobotics, got a Lyme Disease shot & we have to go back on 4/14 for a booster to the Lyme Disease shot & get a heart worm test(because it will show the tick disease "ercholois") I don't know how to spell it! He is acting fine & we hope he will show negative & the ring was just a reaction. |

Ever see a coyote, wolf, lions, in the wild covered in ticks? Not unless they are very sick and or dying. Have you ever wondered why not? I'm sure it has something to do with their diet and health. They eat "real" food, and are very healthy. You must build up your animals health with a natural diet. Start right off with home-prepared food and emphasize nutritional yeast and garlic. Add about 20 drops of oil of either eucalyptus or pennyroyal to a bottle of natural shampoo or liquid castile soap. As a final rinse, use a tablespoon of white vinegar to 16 oz. of water. Another repellent rinse is to use 1 teaspoon dried rosemary (or 1 tablespoon fresh) 1 pint boiling water. Combine and steep for 10 minutes, covered. strain and cool to body temperature. Pour it over your pet after the final rinse. Rub in and towel dry without further rinsing. Please note that using a shampoo or conditioner that has a fruity or flowery fragrance to it only attracts bugs, and especially mosquitoes to your baby. Mow and water your lawn regularly. Short grass allows sunlight to penetrate and warm the soil, which kills larvae. Watering drowns the developing fleas. Don't kill your ants. They kill all the insects in your yard. Once or twice a year, sprinkle natural, unrefined diatomaceous earth along walls, under furniture, and in cracks and crevices that you cannot access with a vacuum. It is harmless to pets. |
EEHH! We are infested with deer! So, I am sure that means lots of tick too! I remember going out to Fire Island (a little island off of Long Island) a few years ago, they have so many deer out there and they are not afraid of humans, away they were COVERED in ticks, I wanted to vomit, and this is coming from someone who has pretty bad eyesight (distance) - so if I could see the ticks, there had to be thousands of them - gross  |
I live in Wisc. and I haven't seen any yet, but no doubt they will come and I hate it. I remember peting my Golden one time and feeling what was the size of a Grape. I had never seen a tick on an animal before so i had no clue, after I moved her fur and saw it, I just about passed out. It was an engorged tick..eww, makes my skin crawl just to think about it. Gross.. Kathy |
