Bed Time When did you start letting your baby sleep with you? I want Buddah to sleep with me sooo badly, but he just wont. I wasnt letting him before because I was afraid he would pee on the bed. I think he is ready now. Problem is when I take him into the bedroom for sleeping he just wont do it. He immediatly wants to play. Jumping on my face, biting, running around. If I ignore him he jumps off the bed. I dont want him to be off the bed because he cant get back up and it defeats the purpose. I tried telling him no bed time. I tried to make him lay down telling him no everytime he gets up, but nothing would work after 35 mins of this I put him in his xpen and went to bed. :( |
depends on the age your baby is...mines started around 6-8 mths. |
i have yet slept with my babies...i have a bed in my room for them and that is where they tend to sleep. |
Maybe after he falls asleep in his pen you could go get him and put him in the bed with you 'til he got used to doing it on his own. |
Buddah was 6 months on march 17th. I guess the real problem is getting him to calm down when its bed time. This last time i waited until he laid down while i was watching tv. He crashed and was sound sleeping. I got ready for bed and then picked his little sleeping body up and put him in bed. sure enough he wanted to be jumping ect. |
From the Day they came home, neither one of them has ever peed on my Bed. Rosi was 8 weeks old and Poli 11 weeks ! |
buddah has peed on the bed before but he was not potty trained at all. Now he is really goo about peeing on the pad or outside. |
My two babies have been sleeping with me and my partener for around a week now. They also play and jump on the bed but only till I turn off the light. After that Boo-Boo the boy comes and puts his head on my pillow and sleeps like that all through the night. The girl Pheoebe is sleeping on my partener's side because he doesn't keep his side of the electric blanket on and also because she's daddy's girl.Like this I have my own furry alarm clock at seven a clock in the morning.LOL |
I forget to say that they are 13 weeks old. |

When he sleeps in his x-pen is he sleeping on a little bed or in a crate? Maybe you could put whatever it is on your bed and see if that helps him settle down. He just doesn't understand that it's time to sleep and not play:) |
Misha slept with us from day one. Piper, it was about 2 weeks & so was Max. They were all 12 weeks or so. When it's time to go to bed, they all run up & down the stairs dragging all their toys, bones etc. I give them about 15 min, then turn out the light. Throw all their toys on the floor & say night night. They make their bed, cuddle up & off to sleep. |
Fantasia started the first night I got her. |
I'm sorry your upset because your little boy only wants to play in the bed. Maybe get some steps so he can get up or down on his own. He will settle down and love snuggling and sleeping with you though. Some just take a little longer than others. |

give him time... My Tootie was like that when he was young but now, he is the most living dog in my house... he LOVES to snuggle! I was also going to suggest steps so he could get on or off the bed. I put the puppy gate in my room so they cant roam the house but they do have freedom in my room... it works wonderful for us. |
well, you've taught him to play with you and walk, etc. You will teach him to cuddle with you too. Start with settling him down for quiet, gentle time when he seems tired. When he's done - let him down. Don't push the sleeping with you until he's ready to spend the night so he doesn't start to respond negatively to your attempts. My Molly has a "freak out" time right before bedtime. She plays wildly with her toys, then she's ready to crash. That's a good time for cuddling. Yorkies love quiet cuddling as much as wild play, they just have to used to it. Many are ready for a nap after eating too. That's a good time for lap time. Molly often got treats for sitting on my lap. I'm in a wheelchair and when I say "Come" she comes to my foot platform, and when I say "up" she stands on the platform so I can pick her up and then she gets her treat. We often nap together in my chair! I wanted a little dog to snuggle with me too. I just didn't realize you teach them to enjoy that too! Kathy |
1 Attachment(s) We have one of those Cat Careers and we put it at the foot of our bed and let Amber sleep in that tell she told us that she was ready to sleep out side of it. She now sleeps at the foot of the bed where the Cat Career was and sometime btw my husband and I. Amber is almost 5 months old.:animal-pa |
I know it's hard but he will come around. I have heard a lot of people with small dogs that don't like to cuddle that they have brought a rocking chair in which the pups fall asleep quite easy ad then they pick them up and stay on the roking chair with the pups in their laps. The pup will soon get use to it and he will allow you to cuddle him. I know it is frustrating but I am sure if you give him a little time and don't make such a big fuss out of him cuddling you, then he will come to you himself. I always say dogs are like men... If you pretend that you don't care they will be chasing after you...That method never failed with me. LOL |
I started when Bengi was around 6-7 months. He used to sleep on his crate next to my bed very quietly. Each night before putting him in the crate he would jump on my bed and lie there because he didn't want to go to his crate, he would do like a "play dead" trick saying "Mama, I'm fine here". While in the crate, when he wanted to go potty, we would make some noise and I would take him to his pad. Then one day we decided to try how he would do in the bed with us, and he just slept like an angel and woke us up when he wanted to go potty. Now he may want to play when we go to bed for a few minutes, but when we say, "OK, time to sleep" and turn off the light, he just knows no more playing and goes to sleep. He even goes potty by himself and does not wake me up anymore! |
