I think Tucky bonked his head :( Ok - I posted last week that my boyfriend just started a new job with the same hours as me - so Biddy and Tucker have been home alone all day for the 1st time. Well, things were going well until last night we noticed a HUGE bump on Tuck's head. It is sore to the touch (he cries when you touch it). I think he must have bumped his head?? His head is about the same height as the bottom of our coffee table & he's run into it before. I am assuming it is just a bump like you or I would get - but would anyone worry that this could be a sign of something else? Is it worth paying to take him to the vet or am I just overalalyzing (as I have a tendancy to do) a little bumped head?? Thanks guys... |
He'll be fine! Don't take him to the vet. We had the same coffee table issue a few months ago with our spastic clutz, Syd. The bump spot was growing and so I took her in to the vet...and sure enough it was just a bump with a scab. I think that she kept re-bumping the same spot over and over. It took about a month for the scab/bump to go away completely. And when you bathe him next...expect it to look really bad when the hair parts and you can see it. I was worried about it being some kind of tumor...but if it appeared overnight and it is sore to the touch...it sounds like the just wacked it on the table. The vet just told me to "try to keep her from re-hitting her head." Yeah right! Mini crash-helmet? |
Thanks - that makes me feel a LOT better!! I was thinking - what if we don't take him & it turns out to be a tumor too!! I'll keep any eye on it. Thanks & I think he would look pretty cute in a little helmet! |
crash helmet If they made such a thing I would buy it! I have a small apartment and a very energetic doggie...so there are lots of bumps and bruises. :( |
I just got the funniest visual of a Yorkie running around with a football helmet on!!! |
Poor little guy - can you raise up your table or put a bumper guard of some type on it ? Just until he grows a little ? Mine used to do that alot - when they're little they race under stuff - as they grow they learn not to - I would watch him very closely and if you see any signs of concussion - go to the vet asap. |
He always hits the same spot on the table - maybe I can put something there for the time being. What are some signs of concussion? Lethargy? Thanks! |

When my kids were little we had marble tables and I bought padding that was elastisized to out around the edges. It worked great and I am sure you can find it at Home Depot or Lowe's! Hope his head is better real soon! |
bump? How is Tucker's head healing? |
The bump has actually gone WAY down, and it isn't as sensitive to the touch. Thanks for the warning about the bath too! I gave him a bath on Saturday & the bump looked huge & painful - I would have freaked if you hadn't warned me!! It is really small today - I've been keeping a close eye on it. Thanks for checking!!!! :) |
