1 Attachment(s) I think my little London has a wire coat too, although both her parents have nice long hair. Her's just won't grow much. Oh well..I'll have to wait and see I guess. That yorkie in the pic is cute though! :) |
I must be missing something, but I've never heard of a wired-hair Yorkie? Do you mean a Yorkie mixed with something? I've only ever known a Yorkie to be a Yorkie (some Yorkie coats are different) but I'm not aware of a breed Wire haired? Please enlighten me if I'm wrong. I grew up w/ Yorkies so I'm just confused? Yes she is a Yorkie. I saw both of her parents. She has a mixture of hair on her Back. Most are cottony soft hairs - some are thicker textured hair (wirey) The hair on her back is all different lengths because of the breakage & different types of hair. The thicker hairs seem to break off when combing. The older she gets the less of the thick wirey hairs she has. She is only 1 1/2 yrs old. Her chest, stomach, legs & head are all cottony soft. It is hard to keep a ponytail in her hair on her head because it is so soft. Hope this helps your confusion. |

How is London in this picture. I got Bijou when she was 18 weeks old so she never even had that puppy fuzz stuff I see on London in this picture. Is this a recent photo? |
Oh brother, I should have previewed the post. Meant to say "how old is London", not how is London. I am sure that London is fine right? LOL |

Love the Biewer Yorkie in your Avatar!!! |
I think you finally hit the nail on the head. My Bijou does look like London. I think she looks very Yorkie, just not when I compare to all the long haired beauties on here. I still take Bijou to the groomers but I guess in reality I don't have to. Never will. LOL Now my new little Yorkie mix Lilly, her hair is a whole other story. I had to brush her top knot as it already had matts in it, and she just went to the groomer. |
Bijou is adorable . I love her pictures and would like to see other pictures of her . |
Yeppers Looks like a Yorkie and probably sounds like a Yorkie. Glad for you and have fun. Sophie had full length coat for 10 years and it was just beautiful, however, it took a lot of work to keep in great condition. She was always so good at her daily combing and brushing. In her 10th year, I cut her into a puppy cut and she was just darling. So much easier for me and her. :) |
4 Attachment(s) Your dog definitely looks like a Yorkie to me. I had the same question when I bought Lily because she just looked different than other yorkies. As she's grown up, her coat grows slowly but surely and to be honest, she has the sweetest, most loving temperament. I think Lily's face is gorgeous and so is your dogs. :) Enjoy her and her uniqueness. :) Here's a few pictures of Lily as a puppy and at a little over a year old or so.... |
She looks sweet to me. The long coats are beautiful, but very time consuming...really not worth it unless you're planning on showing. The way she looks now, she is ready for summer. Her coat will come in longer as she matures, hopefully silky. I've got a Yorkie with a really thick, cottony textured coat. She's just as sweet as can be, but her hair is unmanageble and comes in fast and thick. She had several litters that have had beautiful silky coats (thanks to their dad) and had their mom's color, also beatiful. So she'll be worth it regardless of what how her coat turns out. |
