Do you take your yorkie out and about with you? Hello everyone!! I was wondering if any of you take your yorkie with you out in public. I wanted to take Luna with me but I really don't know if I should or even how. I'm not sure if there is a certain carrying purse I should use or what. Either way, first things first, is it ok for me to take her out with me? Thank you all! |
I try to take my boys with me if possible. But I either walk them or carry them in my arms, I don't like carriers/purses, because I think they would start to whine to get out. I have two so it's a little bit more work than one. Years ago we had gone on vacation to Florida, and at the time I only had one, and he went everywhere with us. We looked at model homes, we went to attractions but all the time he was in my arms. On the way home we even stopped at Kentucky Horse Park and he came. None of my boys ever stay in kennels, if they can't go, neither do I...Theresa & The Boys |
I take mine with me every where! lol. They both have their own carrier each so they are always comfy and can rest if they need too..I love it:) Iv been taking them out since I have them (7 & 8 weeks old). This helps them to get used to people, new surroundings,sounds..etc..I think its good for them:) Here are pictures of both of my carriers: http://groups.msn.com/YorkieSisterho...to&PhotoID=389 http://groups.msn.com/YorkieSisterho...to&PhotoID=390 |
Yes, we try to, as long as it's not a restaurant, we take Yoda everywhere we can! He loves going places, usually he's on a harness and we keep him on a leash. At some parks, we let him roam free though. And when we enter stores or shopping malls, I usually carry him. Only a few stores like Wal-Mart or Target give us problems, and that's only some of the time... |
Ranger takes car rides all the time, especially when I take my Fiance to class during the day. We take him to blockbuster and the laundry mat all the time and just carry him in our arms, but there are only so many places we can take him with out getting into "trouble". He behaves really well for the most part, but he's still curious about other people and dogs. We're still working on him listening to us and not getting distracted by other people which will help when we're out in public, but other than that he only uses a leash at the park. |
Like yorkiegal719, if my kids can't go - then I don't go. Only because I baby them so much that I don't want them being home alone. There have been a couple of times that we have had to leave them home alone and I am sure a movie could be made from that also. lol Buckeye in particular loves to go and shop. I use a handsfree carrier that I strap to me just like you would use for a baby facing forward. He loves being in it and watching everything and everybody. I asked the vet about using it and he was amazed with it and said he didn't see any reason against it. Ahia was in it once but Buckeye got jealous and I had to take her out of it. So we just carry her in our arms (For now). Walmart threw me out of the outdoor garden section once because I had Buckeye with me. Target won't let them either.. Sears will let you and we even took Buckeye into a restaurant in Mexico. He sat on my lap while I ate. Even tho a sign says no pets allowed for some reason if the dog is small enough and cute they will usually let you carry them in as long as they don't leave your arms. They just don't want them pottying all over the place and I can understand that. Woops getting long winded again. sorry. |
I sometimes take Mei Mei with me to Target, Linens n things, or Sav On. She use to bark and growl at people, but now she loves it when people come up to her. Thank god. :) |
Hi everyone, and yes I take little Nemo everywhere with me if I go out....I even take him to work with me as long as my clients don't mind.....he loves his carrier I have never had any problems it seems to be pretty comfortable for him, it has a pillow attached inside, and so far so good....from time to time I also take him to the grocery store and he is never noticed until I take him out of the basket and put his carrier on my shoulder.... Here is a link to the carrier I bought for him... http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2c...ROD_ID=825061# if this does not work just go to overstock.com and in the search box type pet carriers and it will be the first pet carrier in dark denim and tan with the cute little yorkie sitting in it.... |
Gypsy Rose and Gizzie Chavi come with us to a lot of places - would love to take them more (our shops do not generally welcome dogs) - we went on holiday to Devon and Cornwall, however, and they were very different there, calling you and your dog in if you stood outside their shop, what a difference in attitude! At first my husband and I were taking it in turns to go in but soon found we didn't have to! We take our two away a lot in the motorhome so they have lots of new experiences! |
Our attitude is the same as Theresa's ... if Toto can't go, neither do we!! :) Although I bought several different type carriers over the past few months, the regular "tote" that I first began carrying her in is still her favorite! She never gets out unless I give her permission. I take her when I work ... doing research in Courthouses ... she just patiently sits in her bag watching or naps! There have only been two so far in the entire country that have refused her ... one being our own county courthouse in Alabama!! I HAD to go in there to cast my absentee ballot! I took her back to my car, left it running and locked with the A/C on full blast and quickly ran back in and voted!! The Deputy looked at me suspiciously when I threw my stuff in the little box to be "scanned" like maybe I had her hidden somewhere!! ;) We took her to the Veteran's Day parade here in Grand Junction yesterday. We saw a little yorkie on a leash on the other side of the street ... it was adorable!! We rushed over after the parade was over but it was already gone! I hope we see it again! Toto attracted about as much attention as the parade!! They are very "pet friendly" here ... I think we are going to like it!! |
I always take Cha-Cha to many places, especially during the weekend. Most of the time, Cha-Cha is on leash. I think Cha-Cha also loves to go out with me :D |
I work in a psychiatric hospital, as a counselor for developmentally disabled children with aggressive disorders and other psych problems, and I had been working doubles for about 3 days in a row (16 hour days). I was sick of leaving them at home to be lonely in their exercise pen, so I brought them in the other day in their kennel, and found a room in the hospital that is small and tiled and had nothing for them to get into trouble in, and I put them in there, all set up. My supervisor loved them, and I got to bring them around after everyong was in bed and they got to meet a lot of co-workers. They loved it - I went and visited on lunch breaks and dinner breaks, and then they met all sorts of new people (their favorite activity). All in all, not the most common place to bring your yorkie, but it worked for us!! :D |
I take charlie places that allow dogs or are dog friendly. He really like to rideing in the car. |
Wow, that's great they let ya keep your babies in the hospital! :) I'd bet they'd give lots of sick children and seniors lots of joy too if you brought them around for rounds... And at least they have each other to keep company with. |
GREAT idea!! Pets are absolutely the best "medicine" in the world! Perhaps they could be helpful with some of the programs at the hospital!? Good job!! ;) |
