Leg hair? 3 Attachment(s) Riley is 5.5 months old, and her front leg hair is a bit odd. It is very short and kept close to her legs with just wisps of long hair. The back legs seem fine. When we got Penny, her leg hair was growing like the rest of her coat. I know that Yorkies can develop differently, but when I went back and looked at the pictures of babies in my other thread (Calling all 5-6 month-olds), most of them seem to have full leg hair. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Here are some pics... |
1 Attachment(s) Piper our Morkie's legs were like that. Her hair still doesn't get thick on her legs. Max is 5 months, he's my hairy beast. I'm sure it just takes time. |
Rusty's look just like that.... then again, he doesnt have long body hair either. I am no help.... sorry. |
legs Ask Kim King to look at the photo..she knows alot about Red leg Yorkies, perhaps they are just that... |

A lot of them get that way on their legs sometimes. What I did notice from your pictures is she doesn't have much hair on the bridge of her nose. Does she have much hair on her ears? If not she could have leather ear or winter ear. Nancy |

2 Attachment(s) Here are some closeups of her ears. Some days the inside tops are a little pinker but most days they are very dark. I've wondered if there was something up with that (and with the bridge of her nose). I guess I need to research this "leather ear" as I know nothing about it. don't mind her expressions... she'd been sleeping on my lap :) |
sometimes the leg hair can be very slow to grow, it doesnt necessarily mean she is a red leg, is her back silk? As long as her coat texture is not coarse (feels like true silk) then she is just a slow grower. hope this helps |

1 Attachment(s) I was interested in a little male slightly over 4 mnths who seems to be hair challenged in the legs and top of the head. I attached a picture. I was wondering if this was just the way he is or if it would at some point grow? |

She has a beautiful little face! What a cutie. :) |
2 Attachment(s) So it might be normal for some to have slow growth on legs? What if her legs started out furry when we got her? I used to giggle at her "bear-like" legs. Here are photos of her at 14 weeks. Is it possible that she just "grew into" what she had and because it's slowing growing that's why it looks thin? Or is there an underlying concern? |
What a cutie! |
I really think she is a slow-growing coat like my Bobbi. Her features are all too similar to his at her age. I smell a true silky coat coming in :D |
At 14weeks old I think her coat is perfect. When Buddy was that age he looked the same way. Give it time and I believe Jessy is right. A nice silky coat will come later on. She is beautiful.. |
