Help! Any ideas? Okay so London is basically spoiled! This little midget loves to be carried and does not want to walk anywhere! lol So everytime I put a harness on her with the leash and try to teach her to walk on it and get used to it she looks at me like I'm crazy  She will not budge! How can I get her used to the leash and walk on it? |
The best remedy is to do it all the time Peeka was the same way but i put him on it and made him walk with me if you just keep going forward she will get it eventually lol. Daisy is the same way she thinks she is miss priss and too good for a leash lol but i make her wear it anyway. she will get used to it. also you might want to try giving her treats when she is on the leash good luck |
i usually train them by putting them on the hardness and leash...start calling their name and once they come to you..you must give her a treat to keep her attention and praise them so they understand that this is a good behavior to do not a bad one...continue to do this for about 15 mins day everyday and she will understand that the hardness & leash isn't a bad thing to wear. i hope that this makes sense & i hope that this helps ya !! ;) |
Thanks so much guys. I will try that to get her used to it. She is so spoiled  |
I had a hard time with Izzy too. But I found that taking him outside was better than training him inside. Mainly because when I take him out, he's so busy sniffing around he doesnt even realize that the harness and leash is on. They are more curious outside . When we are inside he just sits there until I open the door! Good luck!:) |
One thing to try is to carry her away from the house, and the only way she's gonna get back to the house is if she walks on a leash. *shrug* just an idea |
I carried Kalani and let him watch his sister walk on her leash outside for a few days. One day out of the blue he decided he wanted to walk and now he's a pro:) |
1 Attachment(s) Girl, I had the same exact problem with Jewelina! She is such a cuddle baby all she wanted to do was lay in my lap and be carried around everywhere Mommy went  I tried to get her to walk inside on a leash and she was like "NO WAY!" I finally got her leash trained by going outside (after she had all her shots of course) with her on a harness and bringing Jaden with me. She loves to be wherever he is so I had someone walk him ahead of me and then I'd call her name and walk towards Jaden and she'd start coming. We did this for about 2 hours one day and she finally got the idea that she's suppose to walk whereever Mommy goes with the leash. Don't get me wrong, she is still a SPOILED rotten little brat and will occasionally whine and paw up on my legs saying that one time around the block is TOO impossibly far for her to go  but she does much better now and will walk on a leash. I also have a stroller for Jaden and Jewelina, they can both fit in it, I think Teddy and London could probably fit in one too, they aren't super small or anything. They are really nice though and perfect if you just want them to get outside and get some fresh air. I don't know about you, but unless I take our walking trails, our sidewalks are crowded and I'm always worried about them getting stepped on, so if we're on the sidewalk, in the stroller they go! :p Here's a picture of Jewelina in her stroller getting ready to go "bye-bye" :) |
Put the harness and the leash on and let her walk around dragging the leash in the house |
That is why I encourage people to start leash training as soon as you bring them home. You could try sitting her on a skateboard! She might like riding better!:D |
