Rain and yorkies ......so every time it rains, someone has an accident in the house. My oldest is pretty scarce of rain/snow and will go out but doesnt stay out nearly long enough, I think. Anyways, on these rainy days, I usually get a little piddle in the floor from one of my dogs... what did you guys do one is 5mo's and one is older (and should definately know better) but i think she is just holding it, because there are little lines of piddle instead of a puddle of piddle in her case. it's cold it's wet, i wouldnt want to necessarily go out there either. I've been doing treats... any other good suggestions? they are scared of my umbrella and I bought a raincoat for one and she FROZE and woulndt move in it, but it was very cute.... |
I was just saying to one of the ladies I take care of that I didnt get to take the girls for a walk yesterday cause of the rain and now it's still raining. My girls will go on pee pads and outside. have you tried to lay a pee pad down to see if they will pee on it? |
Mine are prissy too and dont like rain--potty pads work great in these situations. |
Yes, piddle pads work for the little one but the older one will just hold it... and i know she's holding it b/c of the line of pee when she finally has to let go when she gets excited etc. luckily it's sunshine most days of the year around here in denver :) |
morgan was like that when she was a few months old. i would take her outside and she would stand there in the rain and not move so i took her back in and minutes later there was a puddle. SO to break her of this, the next time it rained, i got myself prepared with boots and a raincoat, snapped the leash on morgan and went outside to wait out the pee. I knew she had to go and it was only a matter of time. Well we stood out there for 30 minutes until she finally pee'd. then it was right inside for a treat and a towel. Ever since then she runs out in the rain, snow, sleet, whatever, pees/poops, and runs right back in. have your tried going out their with them and waiting it out? its annoying and you'll definately get very wet but its worth it if it works. |
:thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup: that is exactly what i did, from day 1, since he was 2 months old and we've never had a single accident. it was amazing how fast he caught on, the day we brought him home we went straight outside he did his thing and we live happily ever after...no matter how cold or hot, wet or dry, he always goes outside to potty. of course he'll stay out alittle longer when the weather is nice. |
I don't even bother to see to it they go out when it rains. I just put the baby gates up and keep them in the kitchen, breakfast area with a couple of wee-wee pads down. I just don't want to take a chance that one of them will pee where they shouldn't.;) |
