Quick question... Kind of curious.. When does adult teeth happen? ok i know that our babies have puppy teeth then they get their adult teeth but exactly when does that happen and what should i expect when this happens? |
No replies? hmmm |
im curious too..bump!! |
"generally" puppies lose their baby teeth around 4-5 months old. You might see a tooth on the floor, or notice bleeding gums, this is all normal. Continue feeding as you normally would. Maybe provide a chew or a frozen washcloth, just like babies (humans) it can be uncomfortable for your puppy. Mostly you want to make sure that the baby teeth come out and that they are not still in when the adult teeth come in as this can cause some misalignment in the mouth. Some puppies also may get the diareah (can't remember how to spell that). Extra cuddles never hurt! Kathy :) |
They fell out for Ferdinand around 7 months of age... but he was a late bloomer. Usually it happens around 4-5 months I believe. Every pup is different though. ;) Also, he had a hard time chewing his kibble because it hurt his little loose teeth, so I mixed a little water in with it to soften it - if I didn't do that he would eat. :( |
Ok so mojo is about 12 weeks old and you said to make sure all the baby teeth were out what happens if they arent and when will the adult teeth come in? |
My vet from the start has been monitoring the teeth and says if they are not out before she is spayed they will take the remaining teeth out at the same time. She says these little dogs have a hard time losing the puppy teeth sometimes.:aimeeyork |
I was thinking Grayson was about 5 or 6 months old when we found teeth on the floor. No telling how many he had lost before, he could have eaten them! |
Brandi had one baby tooth left when she was spayed and he removed it at that time |
Very usefull info from all of you. This puppies are a hand full aren't they?LOL |
It's generally a rarity that you will find the actual baby tooth as they'll swallow them or lose them in their chew toys, etc. |
Thank you guys so much. This really helps a lot! Thanks again |

Unfortunately, I've noticed that she's getting her adult front row teeth and yet the baby teeth have not fallen out. I'm hoping the Pixie Sticks from Kathryn V will help them a bit. If not, we'll have to have them pulled at spay time. Don't forget - even pups believe in the Tooth Fairy:p |
