Too young to go out? How young is too young to go outside? My puppy will be 11 weeks on Saturday. He has had two sets of shots. I asked my vet, and he said that he wouldnt take him out yet because the weather is so bad. It happened to be 30 degrees in the middle of an ice storm when he said that. Well this weekend, it should be in the 50s or 60s. Do you think it is okay for me to take him for a short walk, or should I wait until he has had his third set of shots? I think he is getting bored in the apartment... even though he has about 20 toys!!! I'm a little anxious to take him out, but wont take any chances if it could possibly harm him! |
Wait until all of his puppy shots are done and then a week after that is the rule of thumb that my vet has given me. That doesn't include rabies. |
I agree with the poster above...If you do decide to take him out I would not let his little feet touch the ground... |
Yeah definitely wait! if you are too anxious to take them outside take it on your arms do not let it walk. if he is bored play with him. I know how is to feel anxious to take them out but we should wait! just like the above poster said. |
I got Haruka when she was 12 wks. She had some boosters down.. then I waited for 1 week to start bringing her to work. I felt much much better after she got rabies.... about taking her out. |
i posted this about romeo and the vet said it was fine for him to be out if only in the front yard and he is 8 weeks old. he goes no further than the vet. any other time he is inside because he has only had two sets of shots right now. |
I let mine out in our back yard only till they were probably 6 months old, then they go to puppy play date each week, then for walks, but only on the side walk, never in anyones yard because of possible fleas. We have our grass cut each week and have a sprinkler system that waters every morning. This way we don't get fleas. I don't take them to dog parks, and they don't run around on the floor in pet stores. Better safe than sorry. |
