Well, count me in on being a neglectful parent then. I do allow all my zoo to go outside in the backyard unsupervised. Also, my young kids. I love all of them dearly and would never live through anything happening to any of them. But I can't watch their every move. They love playing outside. Especially now with the warm weather. Everyone spent most of the day outside. Me mainly doing yardwork and piddle tinkering around. But outside nonetheless. |
I would have reacted exactly the same way! How terrifying those few minutes must have been! I'm so thankful your husband had the foresight to look over the fence! Thank goodness they weren't far! |
i would be going krazy looking for my babies !! they are so darn sneaky that you have to watch them if not they will run off !! |
Phew, BUT they are dogs and will always be dogs (read opportunists here). They don't come with remote controls, so don't be so hard on yourselves. The thought of never leaving them alone, or only outside on a leash isn't any dogs idea of "life". You've had a big fright, but don't keep the imprisoned by your side or they'll end up so dependent on you they will suffer seperation issues. Terriers are good at finding way of escaping. My little yorkie cross escaped over our fence by jumping onto the compost bin and then vaulting over the neighbours fence to sort out their cat!! He has an amazing ability to leap - leaves other dog owners stunned. You obviously love theses little doggies so already you're on the right track!! |
