Born a swimmer?? Mason and I just returned from a mini-vacation in FL and boy, did we have a wonderful time in sunny FL!!! For those of you in Northeast region...why the heck is it still freakin' cold?!?! It's almost June, for god's sake. Anyway, what I wanted to post was about my shocking experience in FL:eek: My mom has a pool in her backyard. The day we got there, it was so warn and sunny that I went out to the deck and wanted to let Mason out to the yard. When I opened the door to the deck, Mason ran out, and fell straight into the pool like he didn't even see the water in front of him!! I thought I was going to have a heart attack, and I screamed "Masoooooon!!!" and was ready to jump in the pool to save him.....but what I saw was Mason paddling away and making his way back to the pool wall  I was in complete shock, as Mason has never been in water (except when he takes baths in a kitchen sink) and never learned how to swim. Are dogs natural swimmers? |
lol...YOURS IS !! that's cute - but no not all dogs are natural swimmers ...that's really cute and not to be a downer here - but please watch him very carefully and get him a little life vest for when he's around the water - A member here just lost her Misty in a drowning accident .. I think it's GREAT that your baby can swim - I have a total water monster and can't believe how much Chanel loves the water - I hope you got pictures of your swimming yorkie - I would love to see them ! |
Recently, one of my dog walked into a pond. I think she thought it was solid. I thought she was going to drowned or I had to dive into the pond to get her out but to my surprise she swam back when I called her to me. However, she wouldn't go into the water again after that. |
If you hold a dog over water they make involuntary swimming motions - if they don't do that they probably won't be natural swimmers ;) All my dogs except one a chihuahua have been natural swimmers we got her swimming in the end but it took a few lessons ! |
