How to stop him from whining to sleep with me? My Coffee whines. First, he whines when I'm laying on the sofa watching tv after dinner. (This is also when he had his dinner.) It seems that he wants to sleep on my stomach. I've allowed him to do that a few times but now he just whines every night after dinner and tries to climb up the sofa. Even if I said NO. He's pretty persistent on this matter. Also, he whines when I'm working on my computer. When I take him to my lap, he goes to sleep. I think he's addicted to sleeping on me. What should I do? |
I don't see the problem....I'd pick him up...he's just lookin for some lovin |
yorkie's tend to want to be near and dear to their owner...they hate to be away from you @ anytime...that is why he whins to you is because he wants to be as close as he could possibly be. ;) |
Anytime I am sitting down or sleeping my Jazzy is right with me. I love it! |
Yep sounds like my two...if Im sitting or laying down they are on my chest or lap, or knee...anything they can get too...as long as they are touching me lol...soon you will feel lost without them on your lap...believe it or not!! Dawn |
Most of us are like that,(want our furbabies with us) but some people don't want their dogs with them on the furniture. You started a problem if you don't want him with you on the furniture. You need to be firm, say no and don't ever let him lay with you. Eventually he will get it. But if you pick him up sometimes and not other times, all you are doing is confusing him. |
Sounds exactly like my two:) If I'm sitting or laying down I'm fair game - LOL! |

What should you do? Quote:
Do you only have one? When I was 7 yrs old my parents brought home a SaintBernard puppy. Barney grew up to be my mom's '"lap dog". He only stayed with us 2 years, my mom and 2 sisters were allergic to him. What should you do? My sister has a Doberman, if you're watching tv or on the computer or in bed she won't jump up on you. She very softly & slowly works her way up to be next to you or on your lap. What should you do? My friend B has a very large American Bulldog. She has never had a dog of her own and never allowed her husband's dog on the furniture. She ended up buying a loveseat so that her AB could sit with her and watch tv. She also has a new bed buddy. What should you do? We have 3 Yorkies. They sleep with us, sit on the sofa with us, one is laying on the computer table while I'm typing right now. I think they would sit on my lap in the bathroom if I would let them in. What should you do? I don't know, what do you think  you should do? |
awww he just wants his mommy! Just give him love. They love and depend on us so much. I think its sweet. |

The Hubster gets home late and travels a couple days weekly---so on the nights he is here, Milo favors him on the couch. I feel naked on those nights! However--after spending the night draped over The Hubster on the couch, when we hit the bed, it's all about me. I have never liked sleeping with pets---it's a comprimise for me to have the cats at the foot of the bed but then came Milo. He has slept up around our necks since the first night and I wouldn't have it any other way. Milo kisses and snuggles are the best alarm clock in the world!:animal-pa |
my winston also finds the need to "help" me when i am on the toilet!!! why, i do not know??? i do know that he just wants to be close to us at all times and in all places...and that's ok by me |
I would let him up on my tummy or head or anyplace else. My Murfee likes to sleep on my legs when I am lying down, on my shoulder when I'm sitting and on his daddy's chest when he is laying down. We Love it. |
He just wants you to love him. When my pup was a baby, she would lay on my chest as I watched television, and go to sleep. Part of her baby bonding. Enjoy because they grow up much too fast. Warmly, Deborah |
what you should do? just let him up on ya! :D |
let him sleep on you. ;) |

How to stop him from whining My Yorkie's are always on top of us! If not on me, they are on my husband about 80% of the time. Plus, they sleep on top of us! (We don't sleep good)! But what the heck, it would be a very lonely house without them. |
My little Bijou loves to sleep on my belly at night. My chest if I am on the couch. Lap if I am sitting in a chair. If I move her off my stomach at night she sleeps plastered to my bed. I don't sleep well knowing I could roll over on her. I see that your only choice here is to let that baby lay on you!!!!! LOL |
Whinning Yorkie I guess that is why they sleep on top of us. It's their way of protecting themselves from getting squashed in the night! |
My Nicky is the same way. She has to have us in the room with her at all times. When we are laying down she has to cuddle in our laps or lay on our stomach. She is extremely agile for how small she is and she jumps anywhere she wants to be. :) |
When I am laying on my side on the bed, my Tobie likes to jump up and curl up in a ball in the curve of my hip! That's his favorite place to fall asleep or if I'm on my back, he jumps up on my chest curls around so his back/butt are in my face....of curse I readjust him so I am not in the line of fire! I went through a period of worrying about him sleeping in the bed or sleeping in the crate and some nights when I need the bed by myself he does okay in his crate, but for the most part, he is attached to my hip...literally. I think its funny, I thought I was the only one who had a potty buddy. Tobie likes to crawl into my pants on the floor when I'm going to the bathroom, its really weird, kinda yucky...but his sister does it too...she lives with my dad and his fiance so I figure its a yorkie thing. |

I guess that's why they call Yorkies "velcro dogs" Mine have gotten where they just check on me when I'm in the bathroom, than they go and play just outside the door. I have 4 so there isn't room for all of them in my pants! |
They are total LAP DOGS. My Gracie is always on my lap in my arm on my chest the higher up she can get to me face the happier she is.(I will admitt the closer she is the happier i am as well) heheheh |
