who's still feeding them dry food and no problems?
 
i'm still feeding my three dogs Eukanuba choits dry food

does anyone have problems? should i stop?

i'm waiting on a shipment of Canidae

I never use that brand but with everything going on right now..... I would stop. It's not worth the risk. So many have died from what I hear.

Dry food IS NOT affected.. only wet.

I am with yorky4me on this issue, I know they say only the wet food is affected, but just to be safe I would stop using the dry in the brands that were affected too. That would just make me feel better.

i have taken my babies off wet food but I still feed Eukanuba dry kibble and see no reason to stop.

I have decided to home-cook for my babies, the huge recall was the clincher for me.

I am thinking the same thing. Eventhough my little guys food wasn't affected, (Science Diet dry kibble), once they find something that big in all those foods, it is bound it come up other places.

I have been researching raw diets and homemade dog food all week.

If you're feeding wet food, (which is what has been affected by the recall) Euckanuba & IAMS took it off the market as precautinary measure, just check the UPS codes 4197 is the plant code of the foods that are affected.

This whole thing is just too scary :( and while I don't feed my girls wet food I'm still glad I cook for them...they eat Nutro Max DRY and everything is fine

Whatever you feed I would throughly research what goes into it. Look up what the ingredients are and what they are made from. It will surprise you greatly.... including brands everyone thought they could trust. With the exception of dog food made from "human grade ingredients". I have been researching dog food for sometime and I now make most of what my dogs eat.

Mine are on Royal Canin so we weren't affected by the recall.....thank goodness! My heart goes out to all who had furbabies (dogs and cats) affected by this!

Georgie eats California Natural dry food and boiled chicken mixed in. I believe it's only wet food that's affected.

I heard on the news this morning that it was the "wheat gluton" (sp) ?? or something like that.....anyone else hear this?

I have seven little ankle biters aka Yorkies plus Boo the Boxer. My little pack has been on Canidae All Life Stages with Missing Link sprinkled over the top for well over a year and I am well pleased with the results. Everyone eats well, and has beautiful coats. If the food I was feeding was involved in the re-call, I'd quit feeding it -- you never know -- all it takes is a few contaminated kibbles to wreak havok with these delicate little doggies.

Yes, I, too, heard it was wheat gluton. That is the protein that is in wheat flour. My guess is that it is what gives the meat mixture its firm texture for the sliced cuts portion of the type of dogfood that was affected.

Yes, I read that days ago about the wheat gluten being the problem. No, California Natural which is a natura product as well as Inova, Canidae and some of the other higher quality brands were not part of the recall.

You are right, Wheat Glutten....this is also an additive to "Forbid", what is used to help stop your pup from eating their poop....there was an article about dogs dying from this too.

I spent all afternoon yesterday mixing and baking food. Junior loves it! He doesn't take his face out of his bowl until it's gone.

OMG!!! For-Bid?! I have been giving my kitties that b/c Percy keeps eating their poop from the little box........and just this morning I noticed that they have had really bad poops.....*franticly calls vet now* :(

I just did a search and couldn't find it. I also googled forbid and can't find anything...but am worried cause my kitties are having symptoms....

Sully is on all dry food - Blue Buffalo (lamb and brown rice). We switched from Nutro Small Bites a few months ago and it was a very good decision. He loves it!
