It's almost unheard of here to remove dew-claws now, no matter who you get a puppy from....any kind of breeder. The law here is no tail-docking or you can be done for cruelty, even if a vet did it - it is illegal:) ....it's a shame when you see older dogs who have had this done, and all the younger dogs have a lovely long flowing tail, wagging profusely. I am lucky to never have had a problem with even the free dew-claws on my wee dogs.....I would hate to have to get them taken off....I would feel guilty even if they were anaesthnetised.....how do you spell that word, lol:rolleyes: :animal-pa DEBRA, Scotland |
Hmm My 3 month old has her dew claws, and I am debating what to do! My vet never mentioned them (she clipped her nails twice) so I never thought anything of it. But now that I am reading all this about them, I am unsure! Should I have them removed while Cookie is under anesthesia while she is being spayed? Or should I just leave them alone? She hasn't had any problems with them, such as catching onto things. Is it really worth it to get them removed? I would do so while she is under anesthesia when its time to get spayed. Or is it not worth the pain and probably wont bother her in the long run? Any advice or opinions would be helpful thanks! :) |
