Recipe for chewy treats? I want to make Chloe some chewy treats but can only find dog cookie recipes (hard, of course). Anyone have any recipes? Thanks! :aimeeyork |
Here is one that my pups Have tried and like they are cookies but the ones that a friend made for us were very chewy and soft, And smelled good enough to eat myself.:) 1/2 cup peanut butter /2 cup mashed banana (generally 1 average-sized banana yields 1/2 cup) 1 large egg [1/2 cup wheat germ 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour [Preheat oven to 350 degrees (I usually do this after I have the batter mixed because it takes awhile to cut out the cookies).Combine peanut butter, banana and egg in a large bowl. Stir well. ]Gradually add wheat germ and whole wheat flour. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut with cookie cutter Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes [I store the extra cookies in the fridge or even the freezer] [Bone Appetit! |

i bought this book with treat recipes in it. i havnt had the time to make any yet but this one sounds good and stays soft unless you bake it longer then they will get hard: its a cookie but a soft one. peanut butter poochie teats 1 1/2 c white flour 1 1/2 c wole wheat flour 1 cup hot water 1/2 c peanut butter 1/4 c yellow cornmeal 1. place both flours in medium mixing bowl, blend with wisk. 2. add hot water and mix 3. add peanut butter and mix till blended. knead for 3 minutes 4. sprinkle half the cornmeal evenly over a sheet of waxed paper. place dough in center of this. 5. sprinkle remaining cornmeal evenly over top of dough. 6. roll 1/4" thick. cut with 2 1/2" cookie cutters or cut into rectangles. 7. place on sprayed cookie sheet. bake at 350 for 25 minutes ( for soft teats) for harder treats bake for 40 minutes makes 24-30. these will be slightly puffy in style. thats the only one i saw in the book that said stays soft |

yes it does, as soon as i am all done here with the house, i wanna start making them some, they are so picky! |
My Teddy Bear won't touch anything with peanut butter but her reallllllly loves these... 3 small jars of meat (chicken, lamb etc...) baby food 1/4 cup powdered milk 1/4 cup wheat germ (I always add more because it seems too runny for me) I drop them in very small dollaps on the cookie sheet and cook at 350 for 15 minutes. Teddy always gets very excited when he knows I'm cooking them and he waits right at my feet to lick the spoon. These treats stay soft if stored in a zip lock baggie. They are his absolute favorites and we only use them for potty treats since he loves them so much! Kim and Teddy |
