Food Recall????? Please read!!!!!! Hey All, Not sure if you already know this but I just wanted to inform everyone once again. Menu Foods recalled their dog & cat food products as many dogs died during last week. You may read the article in the following website: http://www.menufoods.com/recall/Pres...l_03162007.pdf Hope nobody got hurt and everybody is safe! |

I am pretty sure that the recall is only for canned and pouch foods. Hope no one here on YT is affected by this. |
My little Mia got very sick on Saturday morning and I panicked like a mom would! Of course I had no idea about the food recall at that time, but I stayed by her side all day because she was completely lifeless and vomiting. After a few hours she slowly came back around to her usual self. I feel sooo LUCKY that my little girl came thru this. I checked the recall list and she does eat the Nutro food, but not the kind in the cans and packages....however, the night before I thought I would give her a little treat and gave her some Nutro Carrot Cake out of the can. Why oh why did I decide to give it to her that night?! Luckily I didn't give her the entire can...just a spoonful or two. I certainly hope nobody else was effected by all of this. I was SCARED! Is the recall for the little pouches of Nutro as well?? That's what Pepper eats, a little mixed with dry Royal Canin. Oh boy, now I'm worried... |
I noticed several pouches listed under the Nutro brand. I would definitely check the website! I hope your little one is okay! Misty http://www.dogster.com/dogs/484603 |
I'll have to check the website...I was sure it was only the dry food. . And I first was mixing a little Cesear with his dry (I know it's not the best) because is picky and won't touch just dry. Then I came across those pouches and thought "wow, they are healthier" - :( . I'll need to check those dates once I get back home. Pepper's fine, hasn't acted sick at all in the last months. |

Go to the website and check the recalled pouch dates - the recall is only for pouches dated dec, jan and feb. All my remaining pouches were dated november - of course, it is possible that one of the pouches i fed them was a dec/jan/feb pouch, but I don't think so since I bought them all at the same time. They have been completely healthy, no problems, still it is just too stressful!!! I bought Merrick chunks in gravey as they would have "died" withouth their wet breakfast. Merrick is not on the list and probably won't be - hopefully! :( |
Kelsey eats the Eukanuba pouches :( I'm taking her to the vet today. |
Veryconcerned By This New "60 millions cans and pouches of pet food were recalled this weekend after being linked to 10 animal deaths by kidney failure. Menu Foods announced the recall on "cuts and gravy" style pet food sold under numerous brands, including store brands for Wal-Mart, Kroger, and Safeway, as well as name-brands like Nestl? Purina PetCare and Science Diet. A complete list of affected products and serial numbers is on Menu Foods website. Symptoms of kidney failure include lethargy and jaundice. Immediate hospitalization is advised if your pet shows these symptoms and you've fed them a can of the recalled product. What makes this really sad is owners often feed cuts and gravy style canned food to their pets as a special treat. One reader wrote in saying she gave some to her dog for its birthday, only to discover later the cans were part of the recalled batch. Menu Foods floundered over the weekend in keeping pace with concerned consumer inquiries. The list of recalled product was initially only available as an excel sheet. A "contact us" section, now removed, led to a "404 not found" error. Menu Foods toll-free recall line, (866) 895-2708, continues to emit a constant busy signal" |
Is Cesar in the list???:animal36 |

Emma eats Merricks wet and dry food also. She loves it :) That food is not on the recall list, and I don't think it will be :) |
I was curious now......who pays for our babies to be blood tested if they were eating any of those foods? I think I smell a class action lawsuit in the air.... |
New Article!! Don't know if anyone has posted this or not. But it looks like they have been testing the bad food on animals and 7 out of 40-50 have died!!! Thats 15%!!! Geez, both of my older dogs are on Nutro Ultra Senior canned and dry. I checked the site and I have the same UPC on the cans as they list for Nutro but not the same date? and it doesn't say Ultra, just Nutro?? I have stopped giving it to them until I find out. This is verry scarry!!! My two Yorkies are on Nutro Natural small bites (dry) and canned but it is not the cuts and gravy style. Doh, forgot the article link: http://www.startribune.com/484/story/1065786.html |
Has anyone gotten through to the 800 number??? I need to find out if it makes a difference if the UPC on the can is the same but the date on the bottom is different. |

Big relief! |
the list I read on the nutro did NOT include any dry food it said. I feed maggie nutro, natural choice small bites. But I had purchased about 5 packs of old roys filet mignon and been mixing about 1/3 pack with her dry food and it is on the list and all kinds of numbers. but she still had 3 1/3 packs left so last night I threw them all out but she had not eaten it but once in almost a week except for I think it was friday night and she hasnt acted any different. I found a new kind of food i've never heard of called three dog bakery. It is all human food, just dried altho it tells ya for sure not for human consumption of course. So I had been giving her about 3 tspns of it mixed with her small bites dry food for about a week until friday night. I gave her some more of the old roys pouch mixed with the dry and she ate it. So i'm gonna keep a close watch on her to make sure she is ok. I remembered why i started her on the 3 dog bakery cause she wouldnt eat once when i put the old roy in her dry food and I threw it out and waited about a week and thought she might like to have it again for a little change. and she wouldnt eat it until later that night then she cleaned her bowl. But i'm just hoping she wont be affected by it but she had had some several weeks with her food and was eating it good till that one time. anyway, she likes this 3 dog bakery food and shes been eating it good and i just mix it with a little dry food. Long time ago, i had been buying the mixable variety packs and mixing about 1/3 pouch with her food and now , that dang stuff shows up on the list too. But that was a couple months ago or longer. |

Pepper was eating those wet Nutro pouches (mostly beef gravy as he is not fond of chicken :( ) on and off since last fall, darn it. I'm a little scared, just checked the date of the one I just started last weekend and surely enough, it was January  . I tossed it right away and I guess I'll steer clear from Nutro at all. He doesn't show any symptons, thank God, and I'm watching him, he didn't get a lot of it, maybe around 1-1.5 teaspoon daily. Maybe I ll run some tests though, he had blood tests done for liver and kidney functions before neuter last December and everything was fine. |
