Eating Poop 1 Attachment(s) Oh goodness, Guinness eats his poop. Of course I run to clean it up but if I don't get there quick enough..well he smears is all over the newpaper or floor. The food store recommended the stuff called Solid Gold S E P(stop eating poop) It contains glutamic Acid, yucca and peppermint. I figured all natural well it does not work. Any other suggestions now that I am out $15.99. Thanks |
I know that Fosters & Smith offers stuff to keep dogs from eating poop and it's all natural. Makes poop smell/taste bad so that the dogs will stop eating it. |
maybe if you put some tabasco on it...Remmy did that when he was a pup but I was training him to outside so if he went inside he would hurry and gobble it up. but he doesnt' do that anymore. but he does eat goose poop in the yard. i was outside yesterday putting tobasco on all the goose poop in the yard chris |

often it's just something puppies do and they get over it. you can try feeding him some pineapple, which is supposed to make the poop taste less appealing. it might not work, but it's harmless at the very least. read this - if it makes you feel better: ;) http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/stool_eating.htm You can also buy some pills, i use Deter by 8-1. Coprophagia Treatment pills. So far so good with Oreo (he's a poopy eater or was).. best wishes! :p |
I've battled the poop eating habit with Tuffy for a while now and let me tell you.. I've tried it all. I've given him sweet potatoes, pineapple, meat tenderizer, papaya and a chewable pill called Deter. None have any bad side effects but they haven't worked for him either. With the pineapple I gave him some pineapple baby food and some freeze dried pineapple pieces.. he loves them but it never stopped him from eating poop. I had a little more luck with the Deter but I didn't give it to him long enough to really test it out. Changing him to adult food is the only thing that worked for him. My yorkie Pixie is also starting to eat poop so I'm not sure what I'll do with her. I got a sample packet of something called Forbid so I might give that a whirl and see if it works for her. |
My does eat her poop, she eats the cat's poop, way gross. I try to avoid it but other than getting rid of my cats I do not know what to do. |
As far as the cats poop is concerned, I've heard a lot of recommendations for putting the litter box up high enough that the dog can't get to it, like in the laundry room on the washer or dryer. I myself haven't had a problem with my babies eatting poop, thot I did for a while. I do mix and match their food all the time, maybe this has something to do with it. I just don't believe that with 8 dogs in the house that I would be lucky enough to not get any poop eaters. Sylvia |
