We need help picking new girl!!!! How should I go about picking my new yorkie? The breeder sent me pics of the litter at 2 weeks and wants me to pick one, since I have the first dib. She gave me the birth weights and the current weights. For example, one of them weighed 3.6 ounces at birth and is now 12.4 ounces 2 weeks later. Does that mean that one will probably grow slower now? I am just so confused! Any advice would help us greatly!! How do you know which one is going to be the smallest? |
That will be very hard to determine which will be smallest, as each Yorkie does grow differently. There are also other factors, such as what food you feed the Yorkie and how much exercise they get. If both are healthy and you trust your breeder, you won't go wrong with either one. :) |
maybe you can post pics and we can help you pick |
Yes please post pictures so we can help you!! Dawn |
ok here they are....I talked to the breeder and she said that we cant see them until they are 6 weeks old. And we have to pick now bc the other people want to see the dogs they are purchasing. Does that make sense? Let me know. |
4 Attachment(s) oops here they are |
OMG, they are so tiny and cute:) I don't know how you can choose when they are all so precious. I had first pick when I got Hoku and my breeder sent me weekly pics and told me a little about each one and then I made my decision but it was still hard. Good luck! |
Is it only one little girl........I would say take the little girl. Lots of times they stay smaller than the boys. Good Luck !!!!!!! |

I love # 3 also! What a cutie pie! |
Awww its too hard to pick just one!! Guess you will have to pick them all,lol...Sorry I'm no help, but I like picture number 3 the best.. |
I am sorry that your breeder is in such a hurry. Seems like she could wait until they are 5-6 weeks so you could get a better idea of looks/weight/personality. Hmmmm... If it were me and I was made to choose at 2 weeks, I would go with #1. There is just something about that little face. Good luck with your choice. On a positive note, you can't go wrong because they are all adorable! Tammy |
NIVER buy a puppy without seeing it and the parents and the breeding practice and home of the breeder!!! It's buyer beware. There is NO WAY you can choose a puppy by looking at pictures. I'd shy away from that breeder. Fly there and look at the pups when they are 12 weeks old before making that major decision. |
Yorkiedaze--now I am scared. I have checked out this breeder here and with the BBB. We got Princess from a great breeder, but she got soooo sick and we want to try someone new. She has really good feedback. The pups in the litter are all girls and one boy. We picked the one with the red band. She is the smallest and cutest to us! I hope we did ok. |
Do some really serious searching. Ask a million questions. After all, your getting ready to hand over some serious money to adopt a fur-kid and you want it to live a very healthy life for many years to come, and not spend a lot of time at the Vets. http://www.dogup.com/yorkshire-terri...north-carolina http://www.hoobly.com/0/0/202433.html You could start with these people and ask lots of questions, and maybe go see their operation and puppies. If they are too far, then just ask them if they know anyone in or around your area who has nice healthy Yorkies with health guarentee and bile acid testing. |
