1st Day of Puppy Pre School! Calliope had her first day at Puppy Pre School today! We were so excited. The whole family went to support her. She hid under the chair between Mama or Daddy's feet and was absolutely terrified of the "big doggies". Of course all of them were puppies but towerd over her! Every dog eventually made it over to her to say "Hi!" and she greeted everyone of the the same way - with a high pitch "YAP!" And a bite on the nose. So she made absolutely NO friends the first night but the human's in class thought she was adorable. One guy said that was worth the $100 enrollment fee just to watch her! :p We're hoping next week goes a little better. The next smallest dog was a 4 month old Westie...so about 3 times her size... Anyone else have a similar experience or does my Cali just have extra "B-otch" factor? She's definately a Diminutive Diva!! lol |
Drop Out My yorkie is an obedience school drop out. When I took him he was just too small to keep up with the other BIG DOGS. We got no where fast. Wish I would have kept trying though, he could use the socialization...:( |

Winston is now a 3 year old terror...and loves to chase the BIG DOGS that live behind us. Of course it's never too late for him to try again...school that is. We'll just have to wait and see. They have a doggy day care in town, I,ve been thinking of trying that. Just alittle smaller class size and alittle more one on one attention ,I would think. |

that is just too cute!!!!! i can see her now. Ms. All That!!!!!!! |
Angel was 2 1/2 when I got her. She was too old for the puppy class so we had to go to "adult" begginer class. We had a St. Bernard, German Shepard and a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog in our class. Angel's not very sociable to begin with so she spent most of class hiding under my chair or crawling up to my shoulder. (She thinks she is a parrott) She is still afraid of big dogs but now sometimes instead of hiding, she snarls and barks at them. Not really the brightest move when you weigh less than 5 pounds. |
:yelrotflm So funny! I tell people Calliope was a Mountain Goat in a past life but Parrott works too! :yelrotflm Do they do that to feel bigger? Our older one goes to obedience class tonight. Should be interesting. They let them play off lease for 15 minutes of so. Braxton doesn't play well - especially off leash. Little nervous about this one! |
I'm not sure if she's trying to feel bigger or if she just thinks it's going to flood and she's trying to get to higher ground. After all, she does live in Oregon :p I never thought of her being like a mountain goat but now that you mention it I definitely see a little mountain goat in her :) Mine don't play well off leash either. They usually just run and hide. Angel won't play with anyone and Prince will only play with other Yorkies. Good luck with the class. |
