Puppies on planes?? I have to go to Winnipeg in the beginning of May for a 4-day tournament with my boyfriend and will want to take Chloe. It's about a 4 hour flight. She'll be about 6months old. Do you have to pay to bring your baby with you in the cabin (in a bag, of course)? I would NOT want her down below in the cargo area. What have your experiences been? Thanks :) |
Flight We took Conner with us from CT to FL when he was 8 months old (in an airline-approved carrier). He had to stay in his carrier on the floor in front of us. He never barked or cried. We had a stop in Atlanta, therefore, he could not have a potty break for approximately 7 hours. He was great!! Only certain airlines let you take your pets on board with you (we flew Delta) and it cost us $50 each way (total of $100). We did have to take him out of his carrier to go through security. The bag went through the scanner and I carried Conner through with me. My Mom and Dad also have a Yorkie that they frequently travel with. They invested in a carier on wheels. We would take him again. |

Thank you SO much! That definitely put my mind at ease!! I was just looking in their FAQ's but hadn't found anything... Thanks, again!! :D |
I would call airlines directly and speak to them, they are updating pet policies all the time as more and more people travel with them. (you have to call them directly and make a pet reservation, as only so many are allowed in the cabin at a time) You will need a vet certified health certificate to fly with your puppy, the airlines will also charge a fee ea way to fly. It may be less expensive to hire a bonded pet sitter to come to your house and take care of your puppy. or have a friend or family member take care of him and offer to pay them or bring them something back for their time. Good luck |
I took Royce when he was a puppy on a 7 hours flight from Montreal to Paris the another 2 hours flight from Paris to Tunisia he did extremely well however the first couple of days he was disoriented ( completely new environment and new people ) and jet lagged . |
Our Jessie has been from Atlanta to Las Vegas and to New York. He was nervous and did not enjoy being in the carrier very much. When we were seated on the plane my daughter put the carrier on her lap so Jessie could pop his head out and she could pet him...the stewardess very sternly said both carrier and dog had to go under the seat! My daughter, (middle child) asked if the lady across the aisle would have to put her baby under the seat too!!! Only... this was a human baby. Unthinkable...but to my daughter it seemed to be just as unreasonable to put "our baby" under the seat. The lady with the baby was very sweet and said to my daughter that she understood completely! :D :D :D :D :lol tears |
