What is it that smells bad? As a puppy, he shouldn't smell bad unless a piece of poop got caught in his hair Is it his breath? Yorkies are known to have weak teeth and bad breath (but as an adult)..you should start early and wipe his teeth with puppy dental wipes...just wrap the wipe around a finger and stick your finger in his mouth...clean around his teeth (it's easier than toothbrush) Sometimes, if your puppy tears a lot, his eye boogers may build up and smell....just make sure you get a warm cloth and clean around his eyes. Hope this helps! There is also dog perfume at petsmart/petco |
all oh him smells... he smells kinda like a wet dog....and smell is back immediate after the bath... |
What are you bathing him in? |
What kind of shampoo and conditioner do you use. I use biogroom and bathe my yorkies once a week and they never have dog smell |
I just got finished reading this thread about dog food. You should check it out, very informative!:) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71880 |

Sometimes a bacteria or fungus can cause bad smells. Those are generally caused by poor diet. I don't think either on of the dog foods you have and are feeding are good ones at all. |
I would have him checked out by a vet for any underlying problems. It is not normal for a puppy to smell bad. They all smell so good when they are young. If he is on a good diet, bathed and not into dirt, poop etc there is no reason for him to smell. It is coming from his ears maybe? |
if you just got him a week and a half ago and bath him every 5-7 days i would assume you have only bathed him one time or twice at the most. Maybe yu should do a few more baths and then decide. I know here at the rescue it sometimes takes 4-5 baths before I can get that "Dog" smell off them |

I don't have an answer for you but I'll bump you up. Good luck. shelley |
Was your puppy shipped to you? I ask because mine was. He had a very long trip in his crate - from the breeder's house to mine, it probably took 24 hours (the breeder lives 4 hours away from the closest airport). When he arrived, he smelled very badly. It took us almost 2 weeks to completely get the smell out. Have you taken him to the vet for a puppy checkup? Sometimes dogs smell because of certain skin conditions. Hopefully that's not the case with your pup. |
bad breath my Coffee has bad breath. He's only 2 months old. I heard that he can't be using the toothpaste yet until his new teeth is out. What should I do? |

My grand daughter just got a french bulldog. It was shipped from Ok. and smelled so bad he had to go to the groomers the next day. 2 days later he stunk again. Come to find out he was shipped with ferrets. |
A fungal / yeast infection causes an unbelievable smell, and a wash wouldn't get rid of it....you would need an injection and a special shampoo from your vet....Just something it could be: though I think it would more likely be the smell off his urine - he might not be aiming it right....my male does this, and I have to wash his legs ! |
Maybe the smell is from ear infection. My Poppy had horrible smell even after bathing and sure enough, ears. Dr. gave me drops, now he smells like a flower! |
